albeit cut short in Scheherazade. (venue person[???] went up to Noah during the song and tells him to cut it just as he drops the piano, never seen Noah so pissed tbh)
that's really weird... was he running overtime or something?

I swear that was after alsatian darn and he blended scheherazade straight into surfers hymn.
Tropic of Cancer, Acid Wash and Alsatian Darn were all stunning. I also liked the bass on Tropic, it added a lot of weight to it.

damn that is some great news. really hope acid wash makes it into the (presumably shortened) pitchfork fest set. assuming alastair won't, but maybe.

ok I'm still confused about the drum break thing. besides crosswords there don't seem to be any clear examples?
Noah talks about the hiphop feel of PBVSGR, i think its more about how he has constructed the album with a simple loop locking in the track, then with varied amounts of atmosphere and vox working with it.
I think roopn is referring to how certain songs the drums drop out at certain points in live versions, but on the studio the drums are playing through the whole song.
He also does it on Come to Your Senses, Ms Pacman/Faces in the Crowd, and Jabberwocky (but PeteK says the studio version will leave the "drop" intact). Maybe others too...I can't remember
No I'm talking about breaks, not drops. Every four bars in crosswords the drums do a little different phrase, which is a break. Noah says the album uses lots of breaks but that's the only one I hear.
Ennives I see what you mean about the hip hop feel
he probably made a bunch of the beats from breaks. the most famous break is the amen. That technique is what he is referring to with using breaks. take a drum break, loop it up and you have a fresh beat.

I did !
He played the same set as in London :
Boys Latin / Jabawocky / Crosswords / This Side of Paradise / Faces in the Crowd / Sequential Circuits / Come to Your Senses / Tropic of Cancer / Selfish Gene / Acid Wash
Encore: Alsatian Darn / Scheherazade / Surfers Hymn
Blown away by his vocal performance !
Great transition from Come to your senses into Tropic of Cancer : "Are you maaaaaaaaad ?" on the Nutcracker sample.
Terrific rough power style on the closer Surfers Hymn. All around excellent...

YES! I love the R U MAD? transition so much! So sad it didn't make the album cut but it makes sense with the pace of the tracklist.

like menney of these 'transitions' , they did'nt exist at THAT point .
Like those beautiful new vox in Acid Wash
...... he figured that idea afterwards .......
....extrure texture 4 live 4 life....
On this tour , its Eric Copeland from 'Da Dice' re-mixing Danny Pereztriana's wee-jay goo
Danny is making an horror film in the wilds of Canada at present - so get psyced for that !
hope its goodtimes all over petek

Oh my god Eric is doing the visuals on this go around? I want to see that so bad now. Wow. I got to talk to Eric once about visuals after him and the Da Dice did visuals for AC at Coachella. He's a awesome guy and I bet the show looks insane. Hey Noah, please bring Eric with you to Pitchfork.

Ok these transitions are amazing....lots of freaky psychedelic sounds, even more than usual it feels like. Did PB expand his sound-arsenal for this leg of the tour?? Or maybe those noises are just louder in the mix than normal
EDIT: OH SHIT he dropped the drums out for a bar at the beginning of the 2nd verse of Crosswords, that was FIRE

One of the best live Surfer's Hymns I've heard
Did anyone notice that he came in on the wrong beat on the second "Out on the water"? Didn't matter cause he got right back on and kilt the ending

that arte stream is so great. nice to see that he changed the setlist a little, especially with TSOP back in there. it would be so cool if he would also bring back popadam or the original faces in the crowd. boys latin is a weird opener though.
