ya it used to be " like a sinking ship on the ocean (shuna shuna shuna)". Loved the 'shuna' vocal manip/sample/delay or wahtevr it was, but studi is great too without it

This has probably been addressed in the previous 280 pages of this thread, but is the wooshy sound at the beginning of Tropic of Cancer the same as the intro to My Girls? Sounds pretty similar.

I think the watery sound near the end of seq circuits is the toilet flushing

The intros and some of the 'attendant' sounds are from old kids toys with voice synths I re-wired 15 years ago or so . I used a lot of modified stuff for that - prince real starts with some I think ...
I used equipment from the '60's thru to present day .
We wanted a unique palette , with super powers .....

Mr. Noah EP > PBVSGR
There is a few songs that don't do much for me on the album, while the EP brought me to a place I haven't been since Fall be Kind. I should probably do my own version of the album with the two mixed together.

i think it's just that the album hasn't been out too long. I wasn't too high on the ep when it first came out and put it away for a few months after i listened to it for a few days. I thought it was ok. A little before the album came out I had an urge to listen to TSOP and Mr. Noah and I've been in love with the EP since. I've listened to that more than the album recently and the album to me has been just eh for me lately. I think it's a grower and in a month or two you will have the urge to hear it again and fall in love. Noah said in the interviews that these songs are ear worms so that makes sense. And there is no way that the 4 songs on the EP are the only ones that hit way later for me anyway. And one more thing that is just how AnCo albums are in general, they don't always hit right away. I think it's a great album and I think I'll fall in love with it right after I forget about it.

Hmmm, I'm the opposite. I feel like the EP is sorta what I've come to expect from AC Inc (still great, just not new to me), while pbvsgr had plenty of differences that made it refreshing.

pbvsgr obviously has way more sustenance but as an overall package / release i'd agree! i just love the songs off mr noah (overall) a lot more than a few songs off the album.

what with all the cosplay/jabba talk everyone is forgetting how popadam is gonna completely slay all the other tracks
this has been (still is) such a crazy good album cycle, we've been blessed with so much stuff... several tours, countless bootlegs, an ep, an album (with tons of physical goodies), post-tomboy era preakness, all of sonic's contributions here, the website, the tumblr, the mixes, teasers, music videos, radio broadcasts, a ridiculous amount of interviews, etc
and yet we still have another tour, another version of preakness, another ep, and cavsgr to look forward to
and this is just a FOURTH of animal collective
makes me feel so blessed :')

Noah said that competing in the music industry is like a golf match, you're competing with yourself... there are other competitors of course, but overall the effort that you put in the game, improving your skills... That's what will make you win, really.

So, while I am really happy with the album, I think the only thing I was disappointed about was the album translation of Selfish Gene. it's a really amazing song, my favorite from the boots, but the synth just kind of lost its.... bite, i guess. It's like it's less in your face and energetic. I miss that from the live version. Otherwise, it's a near perfect album
It is a dub music album in many ways , so, i think that Selfish Gene and others welcome being made into versions! i gave it a try and was very happy : ) : ) it is a recording that is amazing on its own and is compatible with what would seem like a lot of reverb but it still sounds very dynamic although awash!
