Yeah, I could tell by your posting that you come from a lesser part of England. Anyways we lost and I'm sad. Let's not let out footballing differences get in between our cold naked bedclothed bodies.

interesting that Panda says the Op-1 is doing a lot of the bass parts in in Painting With. I wonder what presets or his own sounds/effects he's using?

sounds like a lot of the dr. wave engine is on this. the specific preset sound for summing the wretch is called "bic base". I was messin around earlier today with it.

i really like this album but all the sharp synth sounds really makes a thorough listen-thru more grating than for some of their old albums

similarly for chz but not to such an extent

also i love how panda sings these lines during the breakdown/piano part of on delay
"leading me right into a feedback zone"
"I’m finding new rhythms to hold on"

that's sick!! Even in phone quality it sounds exactly the same. I wonder if Peebz is playing the basslines live too?

Is Vertical the song that was playing on the notorious bathroom FLACs when the dude said it sounded like p.hish?

...Because I love Vertical, but it does sound kinda like P.hish.

I'd like to hear the Bathroom Flacs now, too.

After two weeks of letting the album absorb and having listened to it through every set of speakers, headphones, earbuds, cars, etc imaginable, I'm at a point where I can say that I couldn't be more pleased with this record, and particularly the approach they've taken with the recording, release, and tour of it.

It took a little time for some of the songs on side a to grow on me, but the lyrics really made me songs like burglars, hocus pocus, bagels, vertical all click with me. Centipede didnt really have that kind of grower experience with me. SJ and MPP both grew on me a lot, but there was another layer of bootleg comparisons although I feel like both of those albums were so strong that the LPs grew on me because of the different studio effects, details, etc.

i just broke up with my girlfriend two days ago, she's been cheating on me for 2 months and all I was was angry, sad and also frightened.
one of my best friends came to support me and we sang AC-songs all night, we drank 5 bottles of wine, and this was an healing ritual that couldn't have been better. I(we) became so happy,

yes I found the swimming pool.

i love this band so much I want to cuddle these guys to death. seriously.

with every song we had the lyrics in front of us, and although I have to admit we were happiest singing feels/st//sj/mpp tracks, this album was so much fucking fun to sing along to(too), and partly impossible,
most of it is so weird and so fast and the hocketing makes it so much fun. I love this album even more now.

You're a boss!

Did anyone else find that this record was surprisingly cheap in stores? I picked it up for $18. And got a little satchel, stickers, a poster, 24bit/88khz WAV copies, and a slip mat? It's like AC loves us :)

o man... based on bootlegs im pretty sure gnip gnop either is my fvorite track of the era, or its tied with on delay/burglars roughly. ugh, but this whole damn album/era is amazing/"magical", im rlly in love with it. i keep trying to compare it to how i felt abt chz and mpp, and its kinda similar and different, but i guess it doesnt matter. almost felt like i liked this a lot more than chz at first, but its actually made me like chz more in a weird way that their new albums usually do. perfect album for me, just need this and boots lately (and black dice/old ac in the mean time)

this has probably been brought up before but I'm listening through the album right now and it is kind of shocking the difference between how avey and panda wrote for each other on their songs. it seems to me that all of panda's jams use avey solely for straight forward hocketting, while every one of avey's tunes (except for golden gal--great song but i think panda could have been used better) play with panda back up vocals in response to the hocketting or call-and-response theme, but always in different and inventive ways that I can't help but feel are more exciting. also i think that avey's use of this technique in his songs helps elevate panda's use of the technique in relation to each other as opposed to the other way around.

but gosh darnitt this has to be my favorite animal collective release by far right now. its really resonating with me. it saddens me that it got such mixed reviews. i wonder if releasing it without touring it first actually hurt them in that sense. i mean, it would have been a completely different album if they did that so i'm glad they didn't, but i wonder if they had done a whole tour and festival circuit before releasing the album, and everyone was getting used to the songs themselves, if maybe the album would have been better received,

Painting With board theme is sweet, ty.

Awesome!

Now that I've got the vocals mostly memorized, I've been focusing on Geo's parts. So many details stick out with headphones. Golden Gal especially blew my mind. There's a panning synth sample during the "ya think the gals..." section that I love right now. Lying in the Grass is incredibly detailed as well. The last minute or so is intense. Geo goes hard. And does anyone else think Bagels has Danse vibes with the high pitched synth line throughout?

You guys remember that John Cale/AC interview where JC said "see you in Paris in the spring"? So looks like next month Cale is performing the Velvets' debut album with a handful of special guests...and AC is one of them. Holy fuck http://pitchfork.com/news/63924-john-ca ... -in-paris/

What I would give to hear the dudes sit in on Heroin or European Son
