The album is as good or as bad and you want it to be, you can assign any number you want it doesn't mean the album is that good. Y'dig?
That's a good way of looking at it, and I definitely agree. For years I took numerical ratings so seriously, like they were really significant, which is silly. And it's something I'm personally still working on, as a music fan and listener.
But I definitely agree that it's up to the listener, and not anyone else, to ultimately decide what music means for them. Brian Eno has a quote, and I'm paraphrasing, but it's something about how what makes a work of art "good" is not something inherent in the work of art itself, but rather something that happens inside you.

seriously, like an entirely different song.
Headphones or speakers?
headphones (Grado SR80i). i'm sure speakers would be equally awesome. i had listened to the record in 320 kbps (16 bit) on speakers and headphones before this but yeah... it was really pleasing.

theres a domino download code card with the packaging. everything ive ever ordered from domino has had at least one (sometimes a dl for another ac purchase too)
if there ISNT one, i bet they'd give you one if you sent them your order #
edit: it has mp3 (320), 24 bit wav, and i think raw .wav (i have all 3, the highest qual wav they offered was the 3rd option and was more than 1 gb)

I recorded the boilerroom stream in wav format but since i'm leaving for vacation tomorrow morning at 6am, i don't have the time to track it out at all...
DaD...can i humbly and kindly ask for your assistance if i drop-boxed the recording as one track to you to track-out and post for the others to enjoy? i can do that in a matter of minutes tonight...just let me know!

Definitely try out the 24 bit with your headphones if you have the files. You can compare against the 320, too, to see if you have a personal preference. Just felt like expressing my personal enjoyment of the lossless files so people might also give them a shot, and to thank Noah and Pete.
I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy the 320; I noticed some new sounds and more "breathing room" with the higher quality WAV file (again, personal observation).

It doesn't matter that much, you gotta have either, an expensive equipment or expensive headphones to tell the difference.
Digital music is like :01010101 so I could blur and even erase some 0s and 1s and your ear is not gonna notice it, but your brain will, it depends on your sound system too. blurring and erasing 0s and 1s is the method that lossy formats (mp3, aac, ogg) use to shorten the file size
Music formats are conformed of information, that is represented by 0s and 1s, the more 0s and 1s you have, the better quality...
example:
320kbps: 010101
24-bit WAV: 01010101010101010101010101
that's why WAV is larger in size 'cause it has more info recorded
That's a very simplistic and maybe wrong explanation.
You could google this and you're gonna have better explanations, but the only way to notice the difference is by buying equipment, or using software, but software is going to only give you images of the wave of the sound, info, etc... but only by buying the right equipment you could tell the real difference between a 320kbps mp3, 16-bit CD and 24-bit WAV
My advice: Go get your WAV copy, and your 320kbps copy as well, use your 320kbps in your iPod, phone and little speakers, and save the WAVs to play 'em loud at a party with big PA Speakers, hi-fi headphones... you know... expensive audio systems.

Not that their opinion actually matters... but PBVSGR did score 0.2 points higher than Tomboy on Pitchfork.

Ohhhh that's different. I'm guessing you'll probably get an email tomorrow with your download codes since that is the date the album is officially released.

their opinion matters to a lot of people lol
im definitely someone that'll download anything that gets it's ok. i wont change my standing opinion of something because of a pitchfork review if i've already heard it, but if they praise something i'm more likely to check it out

thanks for the info, Zero Cool. Very helpful. Waiting for my girlfriend to get home to listen to it finally. I don't know why I told myself I'd wait until the 12th to listen to it, but I did. And that's today ! Today's the day I get to meet the Grim Reaper and you all have made it so hard to abstain. Can't wait. Also, I cheated once. I've listened to Sequential Circuits and I love it so mush.

my vinyl came today! Got the download card and realized I hadn't looked thru my other ac vinyls to see if they have downloads. Strawberry Jam did, Person Pitch did not (i assume because it's paw tracks, not domino)

Try this software called 'Replay Media Catcher' it rips the original stream so you could rip a 720p or 1080p stream and you're not only going to get audio, but video as well. I think that even if the video lags, with blips and buffering pauses, the final file is not going to have it, but i'm not totally sure, I used it a while ago...
Now I'm unable to try this out 'cause I'm not at home and I'm not coming back 'till the next week, I'm at my grandpa's house and they don't have a great internet connection, they don't even see the point in paying for more bandwidth : (
So please, everybody, try and use that 'Replay Media Catcher' I'd love to have that video to archive it for history... 'cause PBVSGR is making history, I can see it.

...i'm uploading the file now, DaD...i'll send you the link in about 15 mins...but i was thinking i might also try to post a public link to it in here too in case anybody else wants to dig-in and won't mind it all being one long track...although, i'm a little gun-shy about doing a public link...
