Someone mentioned Noah being brave for keeping the most uptempo tracks, based on the samples of Cos and Jabba, off the record. Didn't really think of it like that, but yeah. The narrative he keeps mentioning in interviews makes sense now. I'm so geeked out about every detail. Wish we had stems! Oh, and does this mean we're getting a hyped up fun Panda EP? ....I'll take it!

Burrito was the original fifth member of the band. He quit just before they got famous.

Seriously: The CHZ Pitchfork review called it a "burrito on a windshield."

wtf is wrong with this site? I click the link, the article briefly pops up and then an advertisement takes over that I have to click X to close, but when I close it it just goes to an article about a shooting.

i met burrito backstage and he was really drunk. he said he was gonna try and finish all the mini sandwiches before the band finished playing. his reasoning was because "they didnt deserve them"

Panda Bear: Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper — review
Ludovic Hunter-Tilney

Noah Lennox has an ear for enticing musical textures and speaks of wanting to hit ‘the psychedelic sweet spot’

Noah “Panda Bear” Lennox, a member of US indie band Animal Collective, speaks of wanting to hit “the psychedelic sweet spot” on his fifth solo album, Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper. He proceeds to do so, but the achievement proves oddly unsatisfying.

Lennox has an ear for enticing musical textures such as the mix of muscular synth riff and chopped-up descant vocals in “Boys Latin”. Yet the songs fail to do anything interesting with their artfully layered sounds.

Instead they fall into a holding pattern of repetition, Lennox chanting banal refrains with the singsong wonderment of a modern Brian Wilson; an act of homage that becomes tasteless when he repeatedly choruses the phrase “Are you mad?” in “Come to Your Senses”.

Elsewhere it’s hard to make out what he’s singing about, Lennox’s voice merging into the musical textures as though seeking some sort of intelligibility there.

2/5

that one song Coldplay sounds like if brian wilson smoked weed. It's like if the beach boys smoked a fat blunt (marijuana cigar) and sang 4 part harmonies about getting real stoned. You have to wonder if the beach boys really did get high? what would it sound like?

It's called Pet Sounds, m8

(or smiley smile/smile sessions if you wanna see them RLY baked)

If the cops catch you smoking drugs they will revoke your beach boy license (source: personal experience)
