While i can agree with him that this album does lack the long-form soundscape of their previous works (I mean, CHZ did too, compared to Feels or MPP I mean) I like PW for that. Like someone else said, a lot of these tracks are busy and aurally thick enough that they could very well be long-form jams, but instead AC have condensed them into little injections of pop fun, which I think is definitely admirable. This is totally their pop album but there is enough texture and dynamic beneath the surface that harks back to their older stuff. I wouldn't say it's amongst even the top 5 anco albums for me but it's something new and different from them and I couldn't ask for anything more. (At least it's better than PBVSGR)

Decided to finally sit down and digest this album with my good headphones and thru my phone (my laptop really kills sound). I'm really really really loving this album now. Beforehand only a few jams stuck out for me (golden gal, recycling) but dang I'm so jammin rn. Can't wait to see this live and dance my ass off.

OK i can't emphasize enough how... three dimensional, i guess, this sounds in the 24 bit recording. haven't listened to the 16 bit version but it really is astounding. wish i could put it on my phone in this quality :/

dang - i'm loving all of aveys songs and really not liking any panda songs except maybe hocus pocus ..
maybe pandy just didn't put a lot of effort into this one ..

My shipment notification hasn't updated since my package went in the wrong direction from me (Michigan to New Jersey; I'm in Texas) three days ago. Should I start worrying?

I'm in Austin and mine went to New Jersey first as well. A couple hours ago it finally updated and said it was in Dallas, so I wouldn't worry about it (although it may not make it to you tomorrow).

Not sure which track you are referring to but the first time I heard the ending of 'On Delay' I was immediately reminded of the end of the scene in Donnie Darko that featuresTears for Fears' 'Head Over Heals' (4:20 mark of the song... 2:25 mark of the scene)... "funny how tiiiiime fliiiies" sounds SO MUCH like Peebs' "sooo tuuurned onnn, byyy the delayyyy" to me.

Not a criticism, but as a songwriter I totally would have switched the bridge and outro of Recycling around. Interesting choice there, I think.

No way! I don't see how that would work at all. I think the outro is the perfect resolution to the album, understated but zany and trippy.

yeah I love that outro too. I really love the piano on this album and that outro has the best piano part.

The 320 kbps files sound really great to my ears, too, but, idk, the sounds just are a little flatter? Golden Gal is on right now and there's these little kinda tweets in the right channel, and then that short breakdown that sounds like the Beatle's Baby You're a Rich Man intro instrumentation, and everything just has its own space in the way my brain processes it (whereas the 320, as said above, feels a little flatter/tighter). It's really great.


Which, btw, y'all hear that Baby You're a Rich Man sound, right?

i agree with the additional depth sense with the higher qual, i can't speak for the 16 bit but the 24bitwav (1.2ghz, ffs) is actually a significant increase from the 320 mp3s I was listening to before (also from domino). there's more clarity to the words, too

a very worthwhile investment. i'm wondering if my phone will be able to play these through my car stereo without chugging, however!

i can't even put them on an iphone :/ but it's ok, it's a true wonder in headphones. that vocal part of recycling around 1:45 where panda hits the higher register and then there's the breathy harmony on the ooooo at 1:52 was fantastic

2) probably not. i doubt you'll even get lossless files sorry dude. the wav's i THINK are only available through domino. i could be wrong - if anyone knows differently, don't hesitate to correct me.

I like Avey's the most. I like how it's the one that most looks like cut up pieces of card.

I love lying the grass and bagels in kiev so much. Avey and Panda should write lead parts for the other more often.

I really like how the slowest song is still as fast as/faster than Grass or Water Curses or Winter Wonder Land.

geo has the best cover AND the best back. whaddya know, i made the right call

also panda's songs (esp. natural selection and summing the wretch) really sound like they could fit on the crosswords ep

the melody panda is singing on Natural Selection sounds so kraut rock to me. It's so good. Perfect closer for the first side.

I didn't order one because shipping costs to Canada was ludicrous, but I'm hoping it'll make it to record stores this weekend...but seeing the difficulty that people are having I doubt it.
