Too soon. But this could very well end up there with his best work. Fuck I'm happy.

Person Pitch is still untouchable to me but this is just as good if not better than Tomboy, I'd say. Definitely an improvement over most of the Grim Reaper material.

honestly sounds like hes had some kind of semi massive breakthrough here. hard to say this isn't the most affective stuff ive heard from him. hes kind of delivering on the promise of a lot of his different looks throughout the years... there is sung tongs, young prayer and some of the more ballad-y moments from his pp-tb-gr cycle in this dna... all kind of reeled in, exposed and laid more bare. the resonance of everything in Master makes me cry. what a sweet guy

contrary to most popular opinions here PBVSGR is my jam (such a diverse group of songs) but yeah this is a beautiful release, just think home free is kinda of a weak song to end the record, a more acoustic version of sunset would be awesome, but thats just me farting on my head

people always get caught in the hype of the current release then change their tune real quick. Stan especially. PBVSGR and the two EPs are still classics in my book.

One thing's for sure, A Slap on a Jelly Ass is his best lyric, surpassing his previous best lyric (a pecker full of no good pissin alone)

This album has so many great moments like “that’s that” on I know I don’t know and “go where the angels go” on crescendo, for example.

What?

The first EP is fantastic in parts. Greaper is fantastic in parts. Overall, it's worse than any other album he's done, to my tastes. The second Greaper EP is a colossal letdown. I would say genuinely bad. I'm pretty certain that was my reaction at the time.

Weird call-out. Get ready to get BLOCKED on social media.

The more I think about that post the more I hope you fall down a small number of steps. Nothing debilitating but enough to get a guy thinking.

Last thing I was truly blown away by was Defeat, rest of the set is fair-very good but Defeat is an instant ATer. Tangerine I was lukewarm on the individual songs but I think it's a good overall piece, probably C tier. Homies was two parts fantastic, three parts good-v gd. Eucalyptus, overall good, individually from meandering/irritating to fantastic. PW is a lot of fun initially but shallow.

Add that to your database frend.

I love how jaunty the guitar is in Token, also the instrumental section around 1:20 is so dreamy

Might be the shorter song lengths but this mostly reminds me of Painting With if Painting With had acoustic guitar no hocketing and you got rid of Avey and Geo

Home Free is growing on me a lot, it's definitely kind of an odd and interesting choice for a closer. It was my least favorite from the boots, but here it has way more life and personality. That arpeggiated vocal delay is so fucking good.

This part + the instrumental part following it got me feeling wistful and thinking about life. Definitely my favorite moment on the album right now

Listened to this in the car today and it bumps. Shout out Rusty for bringing the bass

Yes to this, too! I also get a bit of a Sun Araw feeling, especially The Saddle Of The Increate era – think it started with the cowboy vibe in Master, as well as the sparse production and focus on specific elements throughout each song.

Totally surprised by how early this has clicked with me.

Got the old gang back together for one night only for a listening party in my dad's Ford Cortina. We're all wearing our gang baseball jackets, maroon and mustard with an ice white trim. Got our tan leather ten pin bowling gloves on, classic Aviator 'Bans and we grew out a moustache each for the occasion. I parked in a lay-by on the outskirts of Colchester, near Boxted village, overlooking the abattoir. We're cranking it now, maximum volume, shaking the walnut dashboard fittings, a steely gaze into the middle distance, gritted teeth and strained jawlines, three in the back and two in the front, letting out all those years of hurt, born in the wrong time and wrong damn place, the never-say-die, good ol' buoys hardwanking gang back together for one last blow out. Time for Crescendo.

very meditational songs for me.

a solid, understated release. subtle and psychedelic. all about the details/quirks. a headphones record? at least, it feels very introverted. very peculiar mixing (in a good way) with the way instruments and vocals fade in and out at unlikely points (the way vocals are distorted, rhythms change, and how it's mixed makes this feel very psychedelic for me). it doesn't have the 'big sound' or the jammers like Homies or Greaper, nor the textural diversity of Person Pitch. the songs feel small and full of air. in a sense, this feels more like an EP than an LP because of that. songs as (precious) children. in need of delicacy.

at first, i thought 'home free' was inconsequential and didn't add anything to the album, but the ways the beats and the acoustic guitar remain out of alignment and keep the listening guessing as to when/if they will sync up or continue down different paths is quite cool. reminds me of Sun Araw in the sense of it being groundless/floating where nothing is keeping the music grounded, even the beats feel helium-filled, like they will float away. there's something abstract about it.

Dolphin is such a good opener, and my favorite song on the album. it has already found a deep place inside my heart and carries a lot of meaning. other favorites: Master, Crescendo, Token.

Crescendo sounds alive and mechanical. Real Eucalyptus vibes off it, specifically Boat Race.

Home Free only one not clicking but seems like a suitable closer to me

Ooh yeah I can hear that. Both something about the synth sound fx and the kind of loose laid back feeling of the singing and guitar

Speaking of comparisons to other artists, some tracks like Cranked remind me a lot of Jib Kidder, especially Teaspoon to the Ocean cuz there's also some weird vocal pitch shifting on that album

I'm psyched on Home Free as a closer. That song is so understated and languid to me in the best way. A good mirror to dolphin. Really makes me think of pb in a cowboy hat. "See you around " with that guitar mmmmmmmm
