Blind Babe!!! The most off-kilter, challenging part of the record: when Angel sings the counter melody over 'does she feel it?'. I love it, so disorienting.

Your Card!!! Another favourite moment is the when Avey starts singing the "some ppl start shaking" part, before the jammy part.

My only criticism... not enough flange or phaser on the album. Should've hooked up another pedal, or something, on those vox. Like really fux wit it. I wanna be steeped in that flange like tea.

I just ran the whole album through a sweeping flanger on Cool Edit Pro Trial to make up for it.

This is a great driving record, doesn't suit headphones, I think CHz is similar in that respect. Down There is the opposite. It makes me want to stop the car, put on my headphones and walk the rest of the way home. Tomboy makes me want to kneel before Jesus. Strawberry Jam makes me want to sing along loud in my apartment. Sung Tongs makes me want to walk around on a scorching summer's day, eating green bean ice cream. Hollinndagain makes me want to sit in a park at night, Feels makes me want to take a bus across the city and be in love. MPP makes me want to go apeshit and smash stuff. HCTI makes me want to eat noodles in an underground food court and get dizzy and claustrophobic in an arcade. Spirit makes me want to get a dog. Campfire Songs makes me want to sit down and do a poo. What else have they done? Person Pitch makes me want to leave the country for an adventure. Panda's self-titled makes me want to take it back to the shop.

what's you guys's skippable songs off the album?

i always find myself skipping duplex and catchy. and i seem to gravitate to starting the album with little fang.

I skip the first 4 tracks a lot and go strait to Catchy, cuz Catchy to the end imo is pretty perfect

blind babe's visuals are pretty sick, Abby killed it on that one... I wonder if they'll project these at the shows

woah that's like one of the best interviews. loved how open and casual Avey was... feel like I would rlly get along with him. And that Cure thing is weird, wouldn't have rlly guessed. hope him and ac are nvr actually truly concerned abt our expectations for records..

STEREOGUM: I like the idea of trios. There is something very powerful about three people.

AVEY TARE: I do too. More and more, I’ve been fascinated with the number three and how so many great things come in three. In terms of bands, there are so many good trios.

uh oh Deak

AVEY TARE: I like it when everyone is just kind of communicating through the music and just…I don’t really like the word vibing, but vibing. [laughs]

lol i swear he always uses this word.

"the melody sings what the words can't say"

cause when he has to just use words he ends up saying things like "vibing"

hehe true

STEREOGUM: Yeah. When you feel the inclination to start writing songs about being on the road, you need to get off the road and do something else for a while and write a song about that.

AVEY TARE: Yeah, totally.

lol On a Highway

but that song seems more about nostalgic road trips with the family than about being on the road with AC, which is exactly what On a Highway is about.

I think albums like that are amazing too because it’s always like, “What’s this album going to be like? How’s it going to pan out? Are we going to keep it totally continuous?” I don’t think I’ve made a record yet that’s completely like that. Maybe Campfire Songs.

ha, what? probably due to how it was recorded, but Campfire Songs is one of their most consistent-sounding albums for me

Has anyone listened to 'African Brothers Dance Band' record Dave mentioned in the Stereogum interview? Just heard it front to back and it is really great. It's just some really groovy, happy highlife. Love it when an artist you love mentions a record they love.

Here's a song from it:

Don't really see why Modern Daze E is level with A Sender, pretty weak chorus in that one.

he said he never got super gothed though. I mean, I got really into the Cure in middle school but I was never a goth either.
