Thought I'd share something I've been enjoying.

While everyone is hurriedly awaiting the proper release of ETSH, I went to EnterTheSlasherHouse.com and ripped the audio from the website and the videos on there. I call it "Spin The Wheel", aptly titled from the wheel one spins on the site (also, that's what one of the audio files is called). The "songs" are short, but when played back-to-back, it sounds like Transverse Temporal Gyrus. If the admins feel this constitutes something that shouldn't be posted here, I can remove it.

2. Spin The Wheel
3. Bats
4. Bean
5. Blind Babe
6. Duplex Trip
7. Finger
8. Little Fang
9. The Outlaw
10. Roses On The Window
11. Skullsound
12. Strange Colores
13. Tesla
14. That It Won't Grow
15. Your Card

Are you on a PC? I think it ripped them to MP4, which would explain your problem.

Your Card
is such a beautiful song. It swaggers so hard in the beginning and just spins out emotionally towards the end. love it.

Yeah I found out they're MP4, just loaded up in iTunes and it works.

Sender/Catchy/MDE/Your Card are some of my favorite things that Avey's written. Some of the happiest/saddest songs I've heard I think. It's ridiculous how consistently good this album is though. I think the really defined dynamics help, the songs always seem to tell a story

I've had some thoughts about that--- how Avey feels about the freebird. It's probably a bummer for him because this is clearly a project he really cares about. I think i've been a bit carried away in listening to and, quite frankly, enjoying the hell out of this incomplete freebird. I commend those who've resisted thus far, you guys are the real fans. I'm gonna stop gushing about Slasher House for a while.. at least until the release date, or after some of their shows in April.

Does anyone else feel that sad feeling of "Man it's almost over" after Catchy? It's so disappointing knowing the album is almost over...I feel like it simply isn't long enough :(

don't feel bad or say people are real fans for waiting. i get it if you want to hear a complete work but y'all on some religious self-denial that i don't fuk with.

avey should be happy that people are eager to hear it and are enjoying it as soon as possible, and he's been in the biz long enough to know that these things happen. im sure it wont negatively affect sales either.

^ THIS!!!!!

You have no reason to "feel bad" for anyone when something freebirds because there's a demand for the material which means there's a hardcore fan base of people who will undoubtably buy the record, see the shows, wear the merch, etc. I'm a musician myself and release all of my music for free. I would be so hyped to have a message board with fans discussing my music. That's the dream!

lol just because you put out your music for free doesn't mean that everybody is psyched their record freebirded. There's a big difference between someone like you trying to gain exposure and a full-time musician trying to pay his bills. If a habitual iTunes purchaser not too savvy with torr.enting or whatnot get their hands on a freebirded record (which they will when it freebirds this early), they probably will be satisfied with the freebird and won't bother buying when it comes out. I'm sure the digital release of this will be pushed up if they want to make anything off it.

I listened to this. I like most of the songs. Nice change of pace. I don't know why avey won't move away from that filter on his vocals that makes it sound like he recorded through a toilet though. It's getting old

How grievous should we take this offense to be, if one can call it that at all? Now there's the rub. For there is no good or bad but thinking makes it so... alas

sucks that it's missing a track, but we will get it eventually. it's gotta be disappointing to the band, but it's probably more of a catastrophe to domino.

Obviously it still sucks for Avey and Domino to an extent, but this is a smaller side project. It isn't Animal Collective. Slasher Flicks has a much, much smaller fan base and therefore will not bring in that many sales. Anyone who was going to preorder the album already did it when it was officially announced. Some more preordered when it freebirded. Others who still want it/are interested in the music after the freebird will go see the band when they tour this spring and buy the record in person.

It sounds kind of like what they might have done after SJ if Deakin had stayed in the band.

I fucking love it, growing on me more with every listen. Loads of hooks that creep up from below the surface, just like they used to make me feel when I was first getting into them.I love the guitars and the space in the songwriting. I felt with CHz (and MPP, too, though I love it) that the songwriting was almost too tight for the most part, and the production only exacerbated that feeling. This willingness to let the melodies and grooves breathe suggests more confidence and it sounds like a group excited to be making music together, to my ears.

for those who've checked out the freebird and listened to the boots, how do you feel about the record so far?

this is one of the only AnCo releases I've been a part of where I was able to avoid the boots before the record and I'm wondering if you're disappointed or thrilled with the (if any) changes.

I agee. I think tracks like monkey riches and new town burnout had plenty of room for the grooves to breathe, these are just slightly more preferably grooves. Avey, however, cut short some of the better songs with down there, laughing hieroglyphic the obvious exception.

on first listen, very AC-like, much more than down there. The extra sounds throughout it give me a huge centipede hz vibe. quite enjoyable, but dave please makes your vocals at least a little bit more clear!! could hardly understand most of the vocals

dave referenced that old song "they're coming to take me away" as an influence in his pitchfork interview (which i thought was strange) but the beginning of The Outlaw definitely carries the influence he mentioned

Does JH's drumming on this album give anybody else sort of a Captain Beefheart vibe? His style kind of reminds me of John French on some songs. I hear a lot of Strictly Personal in particular. Could just be me tho.
