Eucalyptus is my least favourite because of this, but Cows also missed the mark when he was sitting on a great set of songs and an exciting new live sound which he largely abandoned on the album. My favourite release is Pullhair Rubeye (not actually solo, ofc), then Down There. I do hope this is as tight and brilliant as them.
+1 entirely

I feel like these songs will be a continuation of stuff like Wake My Door and Pandemic Dream. Hypnotic rhythms with big heavy textures. My hope at least!
Really glad for these rapid fire releases, what an age

honestly, i loved eucalyptus when it came out. it grew off me slightly but there's still so much magic in there (relistened recently). and then cows on hourglass pond was hands down my favorite solo record of his - i spun that shit so fucking much.
ridiculously excited for this. that artwork is absolutely inspired. love you avey

wild take about the artwork, art for eucalyptus and cows are both goated maybe even better than the respective music even hot take, 7s art def cool but kinda average. cows i loved the live stuff but only a few of the studio trax lived up to the quality of the live stuff, eucalyptus pretty decent. down there best solo

Agree with Stan about the meandering part, I hope there's some sick beats on this

I wonder if this album will be closer to the 2017 sound he had at the time, since i think eucalyptus was already written at the time and cows became kindve psych-country-ish. i wonder if he will flesh out that sounds more since bog seems to be following in that 2017 sound

Someone on Reddit said they heard the album and it’s good, with multiple tracks longer than 7 minutes.
Looking forward to hearing some long avey songs!

I saw that too but didn't put the pieces together. would be really cool if they collaborated though! or if we also got new GGD this year...

Ha I think I remember Avey saying at some point in the lead up to Time Skiffs that he didn't know how to write short songs anymore. Which is fine by me. Cannot wait for this, just one more week til we get a taste!

If it sounds anything like the 2021 show he did then I'm pretty stoked. Conference of Birds has been one of my favourite project of his (alongside eucalyptus) and hearing more exploration of that stuff would soothe my soul. Even if it ends up being very different from what I expect, I'm sure it will be interesting.

Same! Especially his collagey songs, like Lunch Out of Order.
Also, Eucalyptus is a beautiful album. So many amazing textures and moments. Really impressive when you think of the mixing, there's a ton of stuff going on. I know that's the AC recipe, but it is wonderful and I appreciate the sprawling sonic worlds. Season High, Ms. Secret, DR aw one for J!!!, PJ, Boat Race, Roamer, Coral Lords!! are super cool songs. Each one feels like a different movie.
For me the ranking goes:
Slasher Flicks, Eucalyptus, Down There, Cows, Pullhair, Conference of Birds
Can't wait for 7s! I'm hoping its songs like "Pandemic Dream #4" and "Wake My Door"

Eucalyptus is awesome, definitely my favorite avey. Campfire and motw also hit that sweet spot. The last 4 songs of Eucalyptus are truly remarkable. Whole album is a psychedelic masterpiece. Truly some of the most healing and inteseresting stuff to trip to.
And of course another Avey record likely means another Avey tour. Should be sick and is probably a totally different setup than the last few eras.

What do you think the odds are that Pandemic Dream #4 and Wake My Door are on 7s? I love those tracks. But I'd listen to them a lot more if they ended up on an lp.

Wake My Door I kind of doubt, even if it is a more developed version. It feels like a weird song to release now, given that it seems to be specifically about that very early phase of the pandemic. I think that song's very of the moment lyrics are the entire reason is was released as a standalone thing. A more fleshed out version of Pandemic Dream #4 could be cool, but idk it would still surprise me. Maybe we'll get a different numbered pandemic dream...

yeah same, I liked them both well enough but they were clearly toss-offs released soon after recording them at home during the pandemic. only way I'd want them on a studio LP is if they were completely reimagined

also just realized that a new GGD would be their 7th album, so a tease at that is probably the most likely explanation

This has been keeping me going this week, can't wait to hear this thing. I'd agree Dave is a bit more scattered with his solo stuff but I always find whatever he's doing more interesting than most stuff even if it doesn't really vibe with me and Cows is one of my favorite AC-world releases from the last few years. This seems different but I loved how compact and straightforward Cows was.
Really excited for tour dates. Was not really keeping up with AC when Dave was touring a lot of the Eucalyptus/Cows stuff and I never went to one of those shows or kept up with boots so I really want to make sure I catch him this time around.

The press release has been removed from the Wasserman site and the artwork/titles have been removed from the feature.fm pages. So probably won't find any other nuggets before Monday

Gang Gang did an AMA where they confirmed they have boots/recordings they did with Avey and Deakin way back. Hopefully they do a two nights type release of it

I mean when people found the TS links they also took them down. The wasserman page was probably whats included in the press kit for this announcement. Not too crazy to take it down before the proper announcement IMO
