I just assumed he was sharing "bits" of his collages / process while collaging but who knows. doubt it's AC-related since it's on his solo account, could be related to his solo material though

He also said something about "new sounds bubbling up" and posted some videos of what looked like him and and someone else mixing a track.

And that artwork seems pretty COVID-inspired so I would guess these are songs he wrote during lockdown.

avey once posted video of the master tape reels spinning with that caption "AC on tape = heart" or something, so he's posted about AC stuff before.

the artwork feels like TS2 to me with those spindly, simply illustrated medieval drawing hands in the margins of one of the shots. really digging avey's paper art now, cool to see him refine it

Not to mention the textile elements in similar cool blue tones

Didn't Avey also post a picture of him with Deak and Geo in a studio together for the mixing of TS2 a while back? I'd really bet the art he posted has something to do with it. As for the music in the videos, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was addressing solo stuff AND AC stuff at the same time

I'm on the boat that he's in studio for his own stuff or AC extras, but is concurrently making the album cover for skiffs 2. He did make Skiffs mostly by himself right?

Had the most wonderful dream about Time Skiffs 2 last night. The band did a surprise online show where they performed the whole album and then immediately released the album on streaming afterwards. All the songs had been extended, so much so that they had to chopped up into individual movements. The album artwork was a Reid Miles/Blue Note style jazz cover, but instead of a bloke playing a trumpet or whatever. It was three Arthurian adventurers. A knight, a wizard, and a jester.

Woke up extremely disappointed. We’re getting closer every day.

Ha, I had a dream a few weeks back of being at one of their shows. They announced two different albums to follow up Time Skiffs and surprised us that they would be available at the merch stand after the show. Woke up smiling!

I think I’ve accepted the fact that Defeat won’t hit or swing as hard as it did in 2018/19. Or at least feel different enough in the studio vs. what’s being played live right now.

It's obviously never going to happen but The Path is now perhaps my highlight of this era, feels like it's got the most 2000s magic to it, reminds me of Glasslands, would love them to bring it back and just have that version of PJ in there. I would really like this LP to be truly representative of the era as a whole so re-record Passerby and Cherokee and PJ and do what they couldn't first time round due to the distance. Bring back the vocoder and stuff, try to recapture that moment rather than what the songs are like when they've got bored of them and had to refresh and rewrite them so they're still novel to the band.

As full-time musicians, they're working in a SERVICE INDUSTRY in my opinion and as the customer I DEMAND customer satisfaction. Bring back the old middle section of Defeat or I will be speaking to your manager.

Yeah my highlight of the era too. Blew me away first time I heard it. Think the music box recording they released will be the definitive version sadly. One of the most forlorn pieces of music they've ever crafted imo

Up until that tiny desk performance I've been really skeptical of King's Walk but now I feel like it's the lost bridge to College or Baby Day or Campfire Songs. I wonder if they Simon and Garfunkeld it and recorded the vocals live at the same time or if they did their parts individually.

"Soul Capturer" keeps getting better. Still feels like its own thing compared to all the other songs, and even in the overall landscape of AC's discography... what album would it have best fit on thus far?

I'm guessing this will land on an EP rather than the LP. Turning into one of my favorites, though.

Soul Capturer is a weird one. Kinda stands out from the era, like Mountain Game did in the post MPP years. Feels like it will be a random studio release a year after the album sans EP.

Said band has spent far too long with said songs. Feel like I’m stuck in a loop. Record these fuckers and get on with it amigos. Going on, what, six years since this era was birthed? Christ. Imagine if said band was like Xiu Xiu—an album a year. Bish boom bom. Art is best served when the ideas are new. Repetition rarely improves upon the original nugget.

When did they record them? I wonder if Domino will release the album before the vinyl order gets processed (is that what's happening with Panda Bear's new album? it's dropping next month I think). Since the turnaround time from the record plants is ridiculous I hope that's the case. It must feel sort of frustrating as a band to still be recording these songs after playing them for so long. Obviously covid fucked everything up, I'm sure it would have been more of an expedited process

Dibb says the songs that didn't make it into Time Skiffs, plus a few newer additions, will find their way onto a new album or EP sometime next year — this time recorded in a studio.

"We're kind of audiophile weirdos, so we wanted to record this all straight to tape, very analog," he adds. The band worked with Grammy-winning music engineer Russell Elevado, known for his dedication to analog and work with R&B artist D'Angelo.

"At this point, we're focused on continuing playing these songs, loving them, and waiting for this new record to come out," Dibb says. "I know everyone's also switched a little bit into thinking about solo music."

This isn't specifically it but last update on Insta I think they were mixing the album, I think they recorded earlier this year? So sometime next year we'll get it. They've made it pretty clear several times they've wanted these songs out sooner than later

They booked two and a half weeks at a studio in Brooklyn back in December. Everything has been recorded. At this point it's just a matter of finishing touches/record company bs/whatever else needs to get done. I was hopeful for a release this year but with the PB album I'm not so sure now, maybe Feb 23? Feels like forever for us on here but really it's just a year after skiffs.

Trying to remain hopeful that they’re gonna get this out sooner than later. They’ve got to be getting tired of the songs and I truly don’t think they’re going to tour this material again next year after a second record. I would think they’d be moving on to solo ventures for a while

seems logical enough they'd move back to solo stuff after the fall tour ends. i'm still surprised -- for a band that likes to keep playing new stuff -- that they're still heavily playing TS1 songs on tour. TS2 i understand, but even those songs are four years old now!

since TS2 recording wrapped up in Jan/Feb, i do wonder if ever since then they've been writing for their own projects -- i know Deakin even wanted to get back into his solo stuff. it'd make sense if this year has been about touring as a band and then writing for solo in the time off... but part of me is holding out hope they just decided to keep writing for more AC projects....

Deakin alluded to earlier this year that the new project wouldn't surface until 2023, and i'm quite certain Domino is sticking to that schedule... i'm expecting TS2 is Feb/March next year. the question remains if an EP would drop before or after the LP... i'm betting on after. maybe a 7" late this year, though?

Crazy that they've been playing these songs for 4 years...

If this were 2007 early MPP tours, we'd be hearing HCTI and Sung Tongs right now. Really puts time into perspective, eh.
