Long time lurker coming out of the swamp to NOT request a punch. I am loving hearing people's first impressions, but feel compelled to wait it out. When the album drops in full quality, I am going to take it for a drive, then a hike, and then another drive. Maybe I'll go up to my roof and watch the sun set to Royal and Desire. It's been a heck of a ride and I can't thank this forum enough for helping me get to where we are now. Cheers!

I knew it from the live experience of it and I will say it here now: Royal and Desire is one of the best Animal Collective songs period, and certainly their greatest work since Todays Superspatula.

Yeah, this record is special. I don't really want to compare apples to oranges but this record hits on something in a way that the past few records haven't quite done...and it really nails the landing.

Super happy to be here. This band is incredible. I really, really hope they get the recognition they deserve for this beautiful record.

I almost listened to the rip but then I remembered I still haven’t even heard Strung. Is it still messed up in the booster version?

I’ll probably just hold off anyway, it’s been 3 months what’s four more days? Loving all the high praise in this thread though, keep it coming so I can read it and pass the time!

i just swapped out strung with everything for the official release that was out there. i did adjust it slightly to better match the quality and loudness of the rest of the freebirded tracks so it remained consistent with the overall album.

confused about the jam at the end of car keys, if something is missing or they just went really minimal with it compared to the live renditions.

First of all, all the intros and outros throughout the album are fucking amazing.
I have mixed feelings on what they did with the vocals in the second half of Cherokee, but they definitely nailed the verses and chorus. Almost teared up. Anybody else notice the sample in that spooky part in the middle?
Passerby took me by surprise, liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Also I listened to the album while walking around my neighborhood, and the entire time I didn't encounter anybody until like halfway through this song I literally passed by this woman walking her dog. We smiled for a moment. It was this very fun and odd synchronous moment, had a smile on my face for the rest of the song.
And Royal and Desire is just as good as everyone says it is. Wild. Like the most beautiful and otherworldly 60s pop song.

Holy Toledo, that was GOOD! So many little treats and surprises. The thing as a whole just gets better and better, I think I love the second half more! I'd love to expand more but I only have a couple more listens before I have to recordcmore thoughts for hours about 2003's The Core.

I'm so glad I was able to experience this great quality freebird with this place again. The quality helps keep the memory pleasant, but honestly, I'm happy I got to hear I with you guys days before the whole world can. The band seemed proud of Time Skiffs, and I think they very much should be. As fans we got to share that just days before everyone else, and that feels so special.

I feel so bad for Foxtrot.
I've had a very busy day today, wasn't supposed to work, plans got rushed, and yet hear I am, stoned as balls loving this freed bird in the small window I have. Foxtrot spearheads this amazing AC Catolog thread and now has to wait HOURS for THIS!!
I feel for ya man. Then again, your life already sounds AMAZING so you can't win em all I guess. As a pre game for all the subtitles the official release will bring, you are gonna love it.

First listen done, really just a beautiful ride through. The lazy river analogy really fit. Can’t wait to
Listen to the official release and pick up all the little nuances in the mix and backing vocals. The back half
Just blew me away. Cherokee and passerby were just *chefs kiss* and josh should be really proud of royal and desire, that was a gorgeous show stopper.

Gonna need more time to digest for full thoughts.
This has been a really special couple of years building up to this. Awesome
Enjoying it with you all and can’t wait to see you all at the shows in March hopefully

I am interested in hearing the original vinyl recording if possible!! (i still listen to crosleying with from time to time, actually some sort of edit i made of it at the time, i am not sure why but slowing it down less than a percent and adding a bass boost

)

Having listened to it, Strung With Everything sounds the best (mix wise), which is probably because our generous friend put in the version they released to replace the messed up part. All of that to say this album is going to hit hard as shit when the digital copy releases
