Was imagining a Zaireeka-style AC album where you could choose who you want to hear on each song for the new album. It actually would've worked really well on Painting With (sonically and thematically). Like if you selected only Geo and Avey you'd lose Panda's vocals and the bass. You could mix and match all the songs like this.

Cool idea! My vote would be to get a Zaireeka-style Centipede Hz. It's dense at knotty as it is. Painting With with all the hocketing madness would be super cool too! Imagine playing the parts on a couple different boomboxes around the room with the harmonies bouncing around slightly out of sync!

Transverse Temporal Gyrus got pretty close to this! Would be interesting to see if they explored that further in the future but I dunno what they're going to want to do for this next release. I'm guessing something much more straightforward. I dunno if they think anyone has time for weird stuff at the moment. I'm hoping for just a big meaty chunk of music to get lost in rather than something with a shit ton of different possible versions. That stresses me out. I don't know how fans cope with releases like Tomboy or The Life of Pablo. I'm so much more fond of Avey's approach to music releases than Panda's. I guess he has less pressure on him as a solo artist to keep the hype train going though.
Revisited some of last year's sets in the dead of night while returning from the holidays. I waited just long enough that the material feels so so fresh and the excitement has me jumping out of my skin again.
Some random insomnia thoughts:
-Would be interesting if Defeat was a "Knot Suite" and different parts of the suite were spread across the album and opened each side. The piece flows through the album, thematically tying it all together.
-Obviously this is sacrilege as the song is a flawless masterwork that really really gets under my skin and is deeply moving and it'd be a weird move to split it up but hey, curveball!
-Kings feels like a perfect album opener. Passerby would be an excellent 2nd track.
DownDownDownDown is still my favorite follow-up to Defeat. It serves as a glistening coda to the vibe; stoking the embers as you watch the fire die down, smoke floating up into the stars. Passerby would also work as a tone-shifting pallet cleanser after these two.
