I love the new perspective//hi-fi clarity of these fresh 'Digital' versions. However, like other peeps, I miss the sub-bass in 'Part Of The Math' that's been axed in these new cuts (it's really the only qualm I have with the new mixes [[also the removal of the shaker sounds in the pre-chorus/chorus of 'Nod' but I digress...]] ) Anyway, if anyone is interested, I dubbed in a sub-bass part for the new 'Part Of The Math' mix that's more consistent with the vinyl version. Hit me up (pm-style) if you'd want to hear that :* :weed:

Loving this so much right now! In fairness though, I'm abroad for half a year and only have my laptop to listen to things on so I can't really chime in on the bass debate :P

Listening in the car I didn't feel like any song is lacking bass. This EP just kicks ass from front to back, I have zero issues with the mix.

these sound great but i do wish they still had the longer intros/outros (especially sunset, i love how long it takes for the vinyl version to get going)

but a pretty minor complaint. the vocals sound so greaaaat.

Same, I don't really see issues with the bass but I'm still trying to get used to the changes from the vinyl version

Some of these vocals I can't tell if they're actually new takes or the takes from the vinyl, just with the harmony tracks mixed really differently. The vocals on the original vinyl rip felt really different, like all the tracks were mixed in a way that blurred them together and made them feel like one odd, alien sounding voice. You can hear all the separate harmonies with a lot more clarity on the digital mix.

After a lot of side-by-side comparison, it looks to me like most of the vocals are the same takes but they're really dry and up-front in the new mix, so they seem way different

On first listen, I could have sworn POTM had new vocals but nope, I think DigiPOTM just sounded so strange at first because the vocals were buried deep in the vinyl mix

If you have a vinyl rip on the same device as your streaming copy, I'd recommend doing your own comparison.
It's really interesting seeing how much is fundamentally unchanged but comes off so differently due to where it is in the mix

After closer inspection....Maybe it's familiarity talking, but the digital is still notably bad. Nod to the Folks no longer bangs? I'll stick to my wax.

Reminds me of vinyl me please's remix of FlyLo's Cosmogramma. It is notably different but I still prefer the original due entirely to familiarity. But I'd still stand by the Cosmo remix as an interesting alternate...

going back to the original mix of sunset after listening to the digital one a few times feels like when you stop at a gas station on a long road trip and get to stretch out after being all cramped up

I love this digital mix. Love the vinyl mix as well. Its kinda how I love to hear the band live sometimes and studio sometimes. One isn't really better than the other for me, they just hit me differently. But I do have to say I am enjoying it in the car more than I did with the Vinyl MP3 rip.

Peacock really made me lol. His sense of humor is just the best.

Have really enjoyed reading people’s opinions on which version is better...seems to me like the digital version makes all the parts of the album more distinct and noticeable. sorta prefer the flatter, more unified sounding vinyl mix, but I could probably learn to love both. Although digital might get an instant win just for the peacock sound effect

I held off on giving my opinion, but no longer!

I love that peacock sample so much. glorious

my least favorite thing about the digital release, and why im going to go back to the vinyl release more often, is the fact that the digital release removed my favorite artistic touch of the original: the subtle variation in filters / other simple sound parameters. in each track, theres this "breathe in... breathe out" thing that he does with the sound. In sunset, it's the bass; the bass gets lighter, higher, then falls down deeper and stronger, and makes this fluctuation 3 times in the song- in the intro, in the bridge, then in the outro. shepherd tone does a similar thing with the bass, but over a longer period of time in the outro, and it has this amazing secondary effect of clipping out the wooooshing sample, giving it an added rhythmic quality (where the woosh cuts a bit every time the kick hits- sounds really cool). part of the math and nod to the folks do it with the resonance, where the central samples seem to grow and recede slowly. its the most explicit on flight, which literally begins and ends with just a field recording that grows and recedes. one of my favorite parts of the original is how the crickets / wind grows and grows and grows toward the end of flight, before giving way directly into part of the math. i love the cohesion of this idea of the breathing room of the samples, it gives the entire project such a nice ebb and flow thats totally missing on the digital release

Definitely more a fan of the original release but the digital mix is still quite good. The songs are good enough they can be mixed funkily and still sound awesome.

Homies: remixed and remastered! I like it a lot, for the sake of reference and archive. To hear the tracks with a clean, separated mix is a gift. This way feels even more a companion to 'Buoys' (it being the Rusty mix), like the party before the comedown.
The LP feels like the proper way to experience it still, scruffy and in the red, body-moving subs and those trippy dynamic transitions. Lifting the veil makes it slightly less essential, less uniquely AC, but only by a matter of degrees.
I'm disappointed he hasn't put the digi e.p. up for sale on his Bandcamp page. I would like to get a copy in FLAC or wav, does anybody have a suggestion?

what else is hidden in the cover? it's not simply repeating "ADAYWITHTHEHOMIES" all the way through, it's broken up periodically by other words/letters

I also can't see where it says digital, highlight please
