for me, they should put From a Beach or Grace

ooo I forgot about the version of Graze they were doing live in 2009, yeah that should've been on here

we've already got pretty good quality BBC sessions of most of what's missing though

For those who love this 2009 era Banshee Beat and are lamenting the fact that it's but a distant memory now... (as someone with a lyric from that song as their username) I have to say that it was probably even better than that in October 2019 when I saw it at Desert Daze. These MPP era shows were magic to me, but my point is that a decade later, the dudes have found the magic again!

Some day I'm going to write the definitive chronicle of the pre-MPP AC tours and boots and CA fandom experience and it'll have a foreword by Carles, Web Sheriff and pinkertonman and it'll be called:

You went WWHHHEERRRE???
You done WHHAAATTTT???!!!

Preorder now.

It'll also have a postscript from my old Chinese girlfriend who said AC made her feel itchy and with whom I broke off an engagement a day after she said they were shit.

yeah Banshee Beat sounded amazing at Desert Daze, though stylistically it was pretty similar to what was on the album. the MPP-era version is really cool to me because it's an alternate/more droney-electronic take on the song

how is the mixing/transitions between songs? i'm hoping for some sweet brother sport screams

Pretty screwy to hear Who Could Win a Rabbit start to transition into What Would I Want Sky and then duck into Summertime Clothes.

Wow, you have no idea how hard that brings me back. People who weren't around here back then don't remember just how emotionally intense that hype was. There were several fake freebirds. I fell for the pinkertonman scam that was trying to elicit a freebird from someone who had a copy. We got disappointed many times. And then there was the sporadic listening party in October 2008 at this small function hall type place in Harlem. I happened to be back home on the east coast at that time and went. It was pure magic. And then the Christmas miracle freebird. I was huddled in the back of my parents' car trying to listen to the vinyl rip (that was just two audio files: side A and side B) on the way to my uncle's house for Christmas.

Stan, you should really write something about this. Hell, I'd be down to co-author a piece with you.

They're such teases for including the Fall 2007 tour poster in the artwork but not any recordings from it...

Probably because Avey did the artwork and Panda did the track selection... but still

Geo's samples are mixed insanely loud in the live Brothersport. It works in the middle section though, really adds to the dancy chaos. Then he or the engineer turns them way down after hitting one during a quiet part, haha

That live version is the best variation of that song I've heard in a long, long time. :D

Yeah, I've always preferred the essplode version...but damn, the 09 version is crazy good too. I was at the Vegas show, pretty cool to have a few pulled from that set as well.

When did they start keeping soundboards from their shows? Would've been sweet to have a pre MPP LP & post MPP LP.

Havn't listened yet. I hope it has Panda baby talk/tourrettes/gibberish.
I'm definitely in the 07 live was the best camp, but i'm glad to support the boys in this retrospective. I bet it was a great time for the band to get that level of recognition. I've listened to so many bootlegs from that period and the final recorded album wasn't for me at all. I tried many many times to get into it, but it didn't really feel like real AC to me. But the live jams were sublime! So any live album from this period is great to have. AC music makes me happy to be alive!

Full show from Paris 07. On a Beach! Sooo good!

Stan's hyperbole finds a home with me. A chunk of us on this site have an intimate knowledge and relationship with the bootlegs of '07-'09. We have stories our lives wrap around that the bootlegs center. I'm not sure the band, or Noah, revels in the breadcrumbs we've been graced with over the years. The curatorial choices in this release do justice to AC's 2009 tour (except for Chocolate Girl, c'mon) but not to the chunk of us, of our relationships with the music, of the songs before they were officially titled.

I’m obviously happy they released this record and that so many people who missed this era now get to hear it but man...does this post hit the nail on the head. Well done.

I agree. I listen to the 9:30 Club live album, in full, at least once a month.
Their version of Purple Bottle during that set is one of my favorites of all time.

I was actually talking about their 2009 set there, but the 2013 live album is also excellent! Stellar quality and wonderful renditions of old songs.
