Didn't listen to any of the live boots, so this is my first time hearing any of these songs... and my first impression is that "Tipped in Hugs" and "Dog Says Goodbye" are SIGNIFICANTLY better than most of the songs that actually made the album! Such a bummer that they're b-sides. "Remember Mayan" is good too, gotta listen more though for everything to sink in... but the sonic pallet of the album is really beautiful.

After the first listen, HORS_ is probably the track that hits me the most. Reminds me of a song that I can't put my finger on

For me it's this and something else I can't put my finger on. The feeling.

On my second listen now. The back to back of Lemonade and Saturdays is quite tasty.
Can't wait for Avey to belt out these tunes on the tour.
A blessed year of AC-related releases. We are lucky.

surprised but very happy this is getting really positive reviews elsewhere, though. here are some high scores from AllMusic (https://www.allmusic.com/album/cows-on- ... 0003248270) and Line of Best Fit (https://www.thelineofbestfit.com/review ... bum-review)

Insanely try hard iconoclastic take. Absolute bollocks. Maybe post of the year so far.

Only one I'm trying to love as much as the demos is Mayan. Think I prefer some of the original lyrics. But as with any AC-release, it may take some time. Good shizzzz... <3

LOL I didn't even realize those tracks were getting any hate until just now... All I know is, I've listened to the LP all the way through maybe 3 times? But listened to the 10" b-sides 6 times (a few times on repeat) and was shocked they didn't make the cut ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess I'm even more shocked now to see the Collected are hating on them!

I think only one person said they hate "Tipped in Hugs" and then about five people quoted it in disbelief, general consensus is that the 10" is good shit

I really wanna hear the 10". I listened to the record earlier and love it. It keeps an even pace throughout which some people I guess find boring, but I took it as a session of deep thoughts from Dave. Love it. Nostalgia and Mayan are my two faves.

They’re so lame now. I hate that I still read it :pwn:

AC are too old, and too white-male to make their headlines these days apparently. If Avey said something overtly political this would be in the news.

Yes, 100% where I'm at currently. Pretty much everything that happens in that song from the moment the acoustic guitar enters til the end affects me in a way that most of their music hasn't in a long time. Maybe ever. It's such a specific emotion and Avey is a genius for being able to pull it off so easily.

Ah screw you guys, it would be totally funny if Avey jumped the shark and could only start his songs with sitcom samples

feel like it’s interesting how the lyrical meaning of What’s the Goodside changed profoundly, like the original song seemed to make the “goodside” part pretty sarcastic but this one is more positive and earnest. love it, love u Avey, Make Ben Trogdon 12 Again

yes yes yes
I'm really interested in all the folks who are hearing a real Euca influence, because I don't at all (which I guess is good for me because I did not like Euca even a bit). We hear what we want. Cool to be here talking about it with y'all

edit: this album slaps so hard.

Oh man, this album feeeeeeeels. It's so good as a whole ; the singles are so much better in context. My only gripe - at this point - would be that i'd like him to ditch those wobbly and reverb effects on his voice. It's sad that his voice - that is so characteristic - becomes so uncharacteristic bec of those effects.

PS :

K C, K C !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what's the goodside is so so good....i was slightly put off by the very out-there vocal production at first but i love it so much already, easy early fav
also the crushed vocal sample at the very end sounds near identical to a lot of the down there stuff....so nice

I was thinking the same thing about that sample at the end, I'm kinda convinced that it's one of the same samples that appears in Down There, but I can't remember which song..

dud(e)!! i thought the same thing, it's A Good Sadness by MGMT.. crazy, i had both songs stuck in my head at work today because i was thinking of The Lil Tractor and then it turned into that because i don't know The Lil Tractor who could win a rabbit all that well.. Also, shoot me for this. I have Buoys and Cows on vinyl now, I have nothing left to live for.
