I can't remember the name of the poster you're referencing but I laughed.

omg i hadn't thought of that, i would absolutely lose it if they played that. and it actually wouldn't surprise me if they did! they seemed to enjoy playing that one so much together when they played it that it doesn't seem unlikely for them to want to include it

Haha I was actually trying to avoid that and just make a reference to What We Do in the Shadows

Listening to some boots and while I love the new Saturdays, I loved the old Saturdays. Really fidgety and the guitar was so nagging. Totally different energy to it, and melodies. Glad that both exist. On balance, I prefer old Saturdays. What a surprise.

only song that I could possibly get demotisis on is Mayan and I doubt it, this this one recording on youtube is like very very nice... that melody that starts with "wha-a-a-a-at/ a th-i-i-ing/ to be groooooowin" vaguely triggers a DMT esque feeling that is similar to first times I was hearing Panda's Sunset last year... or Prestor John. like ive known that melody my whole life ;_;
would be funny if he somehow managed to change that but doubt it. tho he does semi drastically change the non-verbal singing towards end of Saturdays, which I ultimately am fine with. and I lOVE the "completenessssss, doo doo doo" at the end which I don't even remember from the recording I heard but probably were there. ...

Can't wait to see/hear Deakin on this tour!
"Taken Boy" seems like an odd choice to get people fired-up for Cows on Hourglass Pond. I love it, and I bet in the context of the record it will make sense, but it doesn't exactly scream "single."
And what do you guys and gals think about this new "vocal minimalism" from the boys? I mean, compared to past releases, Buoys and Cows (judging by "Saturdays" and "Taken Boy") sound pretty traditional rock/pop in terms of vox, i.e. a single vocal line with maybe a little ornamentation here and there. They must have taken to heart the board's collective exhaustion with hocketing. But I kinda miss the weirdo mouth sounds–a la Sung Tongs–that were initially what attracted me to Animal Collective. I know this is Dave's "rock record" or whatever, but the tunes just sound, to me, somehow slight. The boots are more adventurous, but it seems the songs got molded into something more tame in the recording process. Miss the yodels and yee-haws and yelling of yore. I'm glad they continue to grow and change and experiment, but jus sayin'.
Dave played Thin Lizzy's "Shades of a Blue Orphanage" on that Dublab radio interview a few weeks back. Feel like these tunes have a lot in common with that record. The fuzzy tape sound. The shimmery guitars. The nostalgic looking-back story. Something intangible. Can't put my finger on it.
Verdict: I'm freakin' pumped for March 22!

hope taken boy is my least favorite song on record. song does almost nothing for me hate to say. like his singing and some of the lyrics but I don't really like the main 'taken girl, ...taken world' lyric like wtf does that mean (To me personally, cant connect to it cuz im just kinda like idk confused)
hes probably setting expectations with it, saying that like ya there will be other more widely-appealing singles-type songs like Sat but then there will be weirder shit like this. for me tho, this isn't really even great weirder shit, its just aight. will probably be nice in the flow of the album tho.
also wonder how many songs have no guitar, bet its only a couple including taken boy. kinda breaks things up

yeah, i feel the same way. not crazy about taken boy, but can see how it could have a place on the record. i was hoping for more mouth noises too haha. the sung tongs tour proved hes still capable and spirited enough to make them. hopefully the next ac release?

Even if it freebirded I'd wait at this point. Not worth the risk of gaps or crappy quality
Also don't get complaints about Taken Boy.

I love taken boy! very pulsing and mesmerising. I listened to the mothlight version yesterday and I can see why you might b disappointed if you fell in love with that, but besides midnight special I only listened to that boot once so I'd forgotten how it sounded.
Very pumped for cows, I feel it's gonna be a very well balanced album. Not as long as Eucalyptus, more varied than down there. And I love the production in general of the 2 singles so far

(not meaning to dis down there, a large part of its beauty is in its consistent tone)

im wondering what having a band will do to the setlist. i really liked the drum machine on his last tour. thought it added a lot to the hypnotic elements of his music. im sure the new music will pump too. one of the videos he posted on instagram had jeremy playing around with a sampler so i think its safe to assume electronics will still be a very big part of this tour. im so excited

Oh man, only one more week til we get to hear these songs in all their glory. I liked Down There and Euc, but me thinks Cows will be my personal top Avey release the way these tracks have been sounding. I was also really dawn by the boots of these too though. I have slight demoitis on HORS_, but agree, it is pretty sounding in this iteration.

Ah good point, I wasn't considering track listing when I listened, but it's a good closer, you won't be disappointed. The more I listen, the more I'm digging the soundscape I think this album will provide. I just liked the impact of the last word of each line in the live version, where this is a little more light and flowy, but it will work with the way the rest of these songs have been sounding. I suck at trying to describe music.

Oh man. I got a shipping notification from Domino, followed by a download email, and stupidly assumed that they decided to send out album downloads a bit early!
I'm torn on whether or not to listen to HORS_ at this point. I wish he didn't release the closer shortly before the full album, but if he's intending for it to be heard before it then maybe why not just one or two listens? I'm confused there still hasn't been an Eyes on Eyes single yet. I always figured that one was a given from the live performances.

Shipping notification & the HORS_ spoiler. I'll say nothing except that it is my subjective opinion that this album is going to fuck

I love how HORS_ sounds like a beautiful compromise between its Mothlight and Eucalyptus tour versions whilst being something new entirely. And maybe I'm just losing it, but it weirdly fits with a few of the Buoys tracks too.

Jesus .. just listening to the fucking song already!!! Haha some of you’s are so overly superstitious as if the whole is going to ruined! As if you’ve never listened to any of the other albums out of order at one point or another ?
