the video is for sure a satirical approach to the fact of him losing his mind per say.. if you have no idea about Dean's work, it's safe to say this was intended. The intro text really makes the video, and without it it'd be ridiculous even more-so. they had to say he wasn't feeling good as part of the theme, and to get your buddy out into some fun situation, even though he's upset with everything going on. there's all this fun around and you just frown even when you give a part into it. The scene with him walking into the bridge that makes your balance all screwy because of the things spinning is so funny, him just shaking his head looking so angry he's pissed and then continues on because he has to.. it's really a good piece of work he did. Fitting for the music? we can discuss, lyric wise. "that i want to tell you that i want to tell you that i want to"...
Dean and Noah did an outstanding job piecing this together, gives some humor into it.
Panda Buoy just wants us to feel loved.

Crescendo getting absolutely rinsed on rym (best song on the album). Album still lingering below 3. I shouldn't care but I do

essentially just shortens different instrumental-only segments by a bar or two, like the rising crescendo bits are half the length

If p4k or Joe Biden give this a decent rating people will suddenly love it. What a fucking dire sentence I just had to write

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Panda Bear. The melody is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory most of the beats will go over a typical listeners's head. There's also Noah's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his productions- his personal philosophy draws heavily from adobe slats, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these sounds, to realize that they're not just nice to listen to- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Panda Bear truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the depth in Noah's existential catchphrase "a slap on a jelly ass" which itself is a cryptic reference. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Noah Lennox's genius wit unfolds itself in their headphones. What fools.. how I pity them.

Did you see the video for it (posted on the previous page)? It's pretty interesting.

Not sure how I feel about the song, because it's a little structurally weird and hard to wrap my mind around, but I think his singing is really interesting. I feel like I've never heard him sing in quite this way before.

Really? I think Dolphin and the last three songs are a little looser structurally but everything else is pretty straightforward

I didn't realise it free birded back in November I'm always wary of such early freebirds because oftentimes artists will minutely change stuff in the final release.

Yeah, freebirded a bit while back. I don't think this has changed in any way, just that the freebird is a pretty crap transcode in hindsight.

It's certainly not my favourite but I really really like the verses. It slightly suffers from the Panda 'mantra coda' trope, which I've just coined. Lots of his stuff has a repetitive chanted outro, I've noticed, and I usually find these sections a bit boring and very much of an ilk, usually in his middle register, usually thick harmony. I found it a bit tiresome even on Tomboy but he's consistent, which is good if you like that technique. Tracks 2, 3 and 4 on Buoys all do this and for me they're the weakest parts of what's otherwise a very innovative, fantastic record.

I love repetition and mantras, there's a specific coda thing that he does that I find a little flat at this point. Anyway, great album overall. Lots of surprises and subtle moments.

Token it's beautiful, it's so strange to me to feel that people outside live this kind of songs as something passable and ignorable. Instead of think that the others are stupid i usually think that my soul speak the exact language of this sounds. Like a very rare form of compatibility at the level of sensitivity with this guys and the way they express their emotion.
