it's cool that the lyrics of Nod seem like it might be about sex/are kind of sexy and then the song turned out actually is sex also

the gap after the line "fallin asleep at the wheel" is one of my favorite things on the album. its great to hear him use negative space so tastefully

Also, loving the album, but Sunset is definitely the big one for me, I've never heard this type of melody from panda before. Like it's so sparse but the melody has some Ariel Pink level base catchiness for me

shepard tone is my favorite, so krauty

sunset is also really sweet, the vocal melody makes me feel things I haven't felt from Panda solo in awhile

"Go vagabond
Lay it on the lawn"
*bizarre accordion sounding synth out of nowhere*

That might be one of the most memorable moments in any AC related song in years for me.

Listened to it full volume in the car on the way home. PotM was my favorite of the boots, but god damn Nod to the Folks and Sunset are such a great combo to finish with.

I also noticed some stuff after a couple more listens. The melody in Flight around 4:03 sounds like a different version of the “stop making it about this shit” section of PotM. And the sirens in Nod almost sound like Shepard tones. There’s even that drone note that repeats throughout in both Shepard and Nod. I think there actually is a more subtle theme on this record and I love how cohesive the tracks sound together. I dig this way more than Greaper and Tomboy.

after hearing two (maybe three) rips, the first one is still my favorite, esp in headphones.

This is the "Agnew Version" of this EP

Can't wait to properly blast this thing on some speakers. It sounds like less of a cerebral record than his past ones; like it was meant to be physically felt. Such a beguiling combination of modern and nostalgic sounds. Amazing to me how different this record is from Eucalyptus and yet the dudes can come together as such an incredible songwriting unit for an Animal Collective record.

My favorite part of the album, in Flight:

The very somber:

Can't be goodbye
Goodbye good crew
So I won't say goodbye
Goodbye to you
All good wishes
Wishes to you
All good fortune
Fortunate you

---

And then the beautiful, light, almost finger-snappy:

We don't share at all
Why are we telling them
To share it all

There's a certain melancholy to it, like we're losing something but we don't know quite what.

My sentiments exactly. This is songwriting at its finest

Yeeesss the harmonies in the "goodbye to you" section of Flight are incredible, some of the best he's done I'd say. I kinda wish there were less harmonies in that song though. Like when he sings the final section the harmonies disappear and both vocal tracks seem to be singing the same melody/pitch. I wish more of the song was done that way, I'm not crazy about the harmonies prior to the goodbye section. They sound somewhat artificial to me.

Thanks to you guys! You truly are the good crew. This message board has so much more love than most bands' / artists' msg boards official or unofficial. This EP is banging, can't wait to put it on my shelf, I was going to wait originally but who was I kidding? The anticipation was already killer 'nuff.
