I'm curious how a non-AC fan or casual fan will react to these tunes. They're pretty much club bangers if you ask me.

Lol, I only get demoitis with Nod to the Folks, where the lower pitched vocals are jarring to me.
man, this is brilliant. so raw, so uplifting. feel like this is a new sound for him somehow. i'm just giddy

Whether it's the vinyl rip or the production, I dunno, but Panda Bear is elevated by a bit of dirt and breathing space. It's amazing to go back to Person Pitch now and hear how LITTLE is actually going on, because in my head it's this expansive panoramic kaleidoscope. And it is that, but because he does so much with so few elements.
Nod to the Folks is the standout so far. I'm glad I only listened to the boots a handful of times because the chorus was pretty big in the live show and it's much more understated here. I think it feels more unusual but fits the song better, rather than being 'the peak moment you're waiting for'. The beat is also crunchy as fuck and I really like how he uses the siren and melodica, it sounds immediately iconically AC but different to anything they've done before, like Pan Flute Jam did.
On that note, Sunset is really something different too, with the skippy jungle beat (it's much more jungle than Autechre to me once the snares/rims kick in). The vocals are also gorgeous, my favourite PB harmonies in a long time. If this is where he is now, that's great. I'm happy with it. No doubt he will be relieved to have met my exacting standards.
On the other side, much as I love the animal mineral vegetable section of Part of the Math, I don't think there's any reason for four combined minutes of intro and outro. I'm OK with not repeating the best section into the ground but I'm not sure how long I'll find the rest of the track interesting enough to bother with. The beat and 'that noise' remind me of something really 90s, I can't think what, but it makes me slightly uncomfortable, like my dad enthusiastically grinding up against an estranged aunt at a family Christmas party and you're like fuck is that my real mom?

Flight is just so head-bobby and corny in an endearing way and a really fun song. i keep coming back to it

While stealing that turntable wasn't exactly a walk in the park with the homies, listening to this EP turned out to be a pecker full of good good. Four and a half stars.

On first listen my only gripe is with some of the vocals, I miss how expressive they sounded in the live versions. But I suppose that's to be expected with panda's stuff. Really digging it overall. I LOVE all the long intros and outros, and the way each song begins so suddenly. When Part of the Math explodes into your ears and immediately clears out all the field recordings at the end of Flight, it's just such a satisfying moment. All the songs flow together really well. i agree with the person above who said this was the best release since Person Pitch.

Is that a recorder towards the end of "Sunset"?? Those flute-like notes? Beautiful song. So many unexpected melodies on that one. Love the abrupt transition from pummeling "Shepard Tone" into the sirens of "Nod to the Folks." Otherworldly. And "Part of the Math." Thrilling. Reminds me of The Stone Roses for some reason. It's got a '90s Brit trip-hop vibe almost. There are some lovely little sounds buried in this rip that I can't wait to hear properly when this puppy arrives in the mail (or is the lo-fi sound intentional??). That melodica chord at 4:12 behind the downbeat that repeats a few times... so tasty! It's incredible how that distorted and flanged repeating note that opens the song can carry it the whole way through. So much with so little. I kind of like how mono it is, too.
Favorite so far by a mile: "Sunset"

My only disappointment so far is Flight.
I liked the live version but its too Gnippy Gnoppy for my taste. could've done alot more with it. (like he did with the vocal effects live) still enjoyable.
surprised I like POTM more, thought this would be my least favorite.
the last three are GREAT.
ofcourse it's still the early rip but all in all I think it's safe to say: better than expected,

Please don't flood the thread with PM requests, just PM someone who has the album

Still planning on ripping it? Noticed several skips in the current rip. Grateful to have anything of course, and always after the very best quality available. <3
