Hey guys,

I'm coordinating a get together for fans traveling to this glorious event. Here's the tentative agenda:

Friday, Dec 1 @ 6pm: Four Five Six
https://www.facebook.com/events/332263297237165/
For anyone arriving a day early and wanting to connect. Relaxing atmosphere, great food, and a wide variety of beers and fancy cocktails.

Saturday, Dec 2 @ 11am: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
https://www.facebook.com/events/135665877084137/
Take in world-class, stunningly beautiful artwork. Even if you decide not to partake in the meetup I would highly recommend you visit as it's a genuine spectacle.

Saturday, Dec 2nd @ 4pm: The Factory Bar & Restaurant
https://www.facebook.com/events/329523097457335/
Food, drinks, and debating what the encore performance might be. Location is less than 2 miles from the venue.

Saturday, Dec 2nd @ 7pm: Knockdown Center
https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/knockdo ... er-maspeth
Show time (doors at 7:30pm, starts at 9pm).

Trying to keep this light with ample time between each location to unwind and take care of personal business. The restaurant locations come highly recommended from locals, and the Metropolitan Museum is a no-brainer if you're visiting NYC. Open to suggestions on other potentially fun/engaging activities! I'll be in NYC from the morning of December 1st through afternoon of December 4th and am willing to coordinate anything in that window.

If anyone wants to add me on Facebook to get in touch earlier please feel free:

Psyched!

A handful of people connected with me on Facebook so I created a public event for each meetup that anyone can easily join:

Friday, Dec 1 @ 6pm: Four Five Six
https://www.facebook.com/events/332263297237165/

Saturday, Dec 2 @ 11am: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
https://www.facebook.com/events/135665877084137/

Saturday, Dec 2nd @ 4pm: The Factory Bar & Restaurant

I've mostly lurked these forums the past 5+ years so here's some more info about me: started listening to Animal Collective around 2008 when Merriweather was released and at first hated but eventually fell in love with their older stuff (Strawberry Jam is a masterpiece and my favorite album by any band). Since then I've traveled to shows around the United States and was lucky enough to meet a couple of the guys. Here are some pictures and videos of my favorite AC memories:

Merriweather (2012):

Early shot of the stage at possibly my favorite show by any band, ever. Met a few CAers at this one and got to witness Dave absolutely destroy his lungs during "Peacebone" (pretty sure he got strep throat a few days later and had to cornpill some shows).

Merriweather (2012):

Aforementioned clip of Dave shredding his vocal chords. One of the greatest moments of my life. The energy at this show was absolutely bonkers.

Vulcan Gas Company DJ Set (2015):

Josh feelin' funky. I was surprised they played some of Panda's new material during this set.

9:30 Club, Washington D.C. (2017)

Another major highlight, being the son of a traveling Deadhead it was surreal to hear my favorite band cover a song by my dad's favorite band.

Merriweather (2017):

Brian's daughter was running along the empty seats and I thought this was a cute moment where he was trying to calm her down a bit.

Pre-show shot of the stage. Really loved Abby's set work for this tour.

Meeting Dave! My brother and I walked into the venue fairly early and he was standing by the stage sipping a neat Mezcal so we talked for a bit about his recent Reddit AMA and upcoming solo shows (Austin show was since cornpilled, which... fuck). Super chill guy. Oh, and that's me on the left. :D

I'm pretty sure I read earlier that the artwork for the album was created by one (or more) of you guys...

I recently stumbled onto artwork made by Henry Darger and its almost scary how similar it is. Obviously not as twisted or dark, but the feeling is there so to speak.

Avey:

Yes surprisingly everyone that interviews us now asks about that. Ive been a fan of dargers stuff for some time now but didnt really have it in mind when i made the cover. I found a childrens educational guide on the street and thought some of the images fit the sound and the lyrics perfectly (kind of how i felt about the original spirit album cover when i ripped that off too) so i cut them up and used them. I guess the similarity is there because darger taught himself to draw by tracing similar images and magazine cut outs etc. Theres a sweet documentary about him called "in the realms of the unreal"...atleast i think thats what it is called. You can probably rent it if you have access to a decent video store....

If you like more personal or outsider visual art and writings maybe you should check out stuff by adolf wolfie or robert walser as well. Both guys are really cool and had interesting lives as well.

Davey

We did it! <3 For everyone who was up front and center, I'm amazed none of us passed out. That last-minute push towards the front was brutal, but WORTH IT!
