Vinyl only releases are bad for fans because of scalpers. That's just about it. It's not hard to understand. Some clown who does not care about Mr. Lennox's music will sell this on eBay or discogs for 50 dollars above the list price. It keeps music away from fans.

I don't agree with the notion that it keeps music away from fans but I get the sentiment and I understand feeling that way. My feeling is that we only need one person to buy the album and rip it, then everyone has it. I don't really care who else has the copies.

I'm willing to bet one of the intentions behind the vinyl only release is the community interaction of sharing the rips among one another and having the album floating through digital space like that. In a big way we (and fan-to-fan interaction) are gonna be the distribution vector for this EP. It's possible that places like this forum and reddit were at the forefront of panda's mind when choosing that route, which makes it all the more confusing that people are taking the release to mean he doesn't care about fans hearing the album.

But yeah, I don't get the fucking point of talking about the vinyl thing anymore. Like I said, people will find a way to listen to it and most of the people complaining can listen to it on vinyl. So what exactly is the point in fighting this battle? I would give no shits if it was a vinyl only release and I didn't have a record player. I would find a way to get both physical and digital copies. Just Google "download new Panda Bear ep" ffs

Hyped for this - the production is going to be mad i reckon, bassy mono(ish) mix is so dub, this whole thing gonna have warmth.... gonna bang. regardless of whether you're for or against it, i think everyone is arguing about the vinyl only quality of the EP because it is an interesting aspect, & possibly the most interesting aspect, of this upcoming release.

i mean, that's kinda stating the obvious, but yeah, it means that i've been appreciating all the opinions and i'm not mad that everyone is stating their piece. it's all valid.

if we were to take a moment to imagine Panda had not stated that this was a vinyl only release. we'd probably be discussing the music and nothing much else. but there isn't a huge amount to discuss. 5 or so songs, we've probably heard them all so nothing unheard to anticipate, no wild new direction in sound, overall solid sounding bootleg, i dunno, it's all pretty mild in the lead up, to be honest.

so yeah in conclusion the songs sound pretty cool and as a dedicated fan of this band and their output, i'm looking forward to hearing this release. lol. go Panda

I am totally excited for boots and/or official soundboard recordings from this era. I would love it if PB decided to put out a nice Live release like 9:30. I would snag that up in a heartbeat and buy an extra copy for my cat.

DD is great and reminds me of when all we had from new Panda was the All tomorrows party recording boot for like 6 months. Then he started tour and we got better boots and better shows. It was fantastic.

This band/solo members live stuff is just so amazing and make perfect complements to the studio stuff. Can't wait for more.
