I've been listening to the Desert Daze boot again in light of this announcement and the lyrics and I think it's the least excited I've ever been for an AC related release. I genuinely hope the next AC album is Dave, Brian and Josh. Noah needs to reset and refresh. He's treading water.

My point is the album doesn’t need to publicly exist at all. You can record an LP and then just give it to your kids or use it as a coaster. That wouldn’t make PB a jerk, especially given how ungrateful, entitled, and critical some of his fans are. You are not owed anything for consumption, in any format, so there is nothing to “apologize” for.
AMEN. And I wish him the very best in putting food on the table.

Every time I see a post from you, I imagine a 300 pound man sitting in front of his computer screen typing nonsense and grinning ceaselessly at what a clever old chap he is for being so esoteric. Not sure why I get that image...
But yeah, hey, glad there's someone with an optimistic attitude around here.

Because you have a limited imagination, and the idea is comforting to you?
Is fat shaming still cool, by the way?
Optimism doesn't mean slavish adherence. I'm optimistic about starting a family. I'm optimistic about cycling across Europe. I'm optimistic about the Nintendo Switch. I'm optimistic about Dave's next album. I'm optimistic that Noah has more in him than this batch of songs suggests.
I'm pessimistic that you'll have enjoyed this post.

im a chubby chaser and a stan-fan but it does seem like you are real worked up about this, but like maybe it is good to have one guy around who almost seems like he strait up wants to serial kill one of the musicians from a band whose forum this is about into not making music anymore. like with all things there must be balance. and when it comes to panda for the past 2 years, stan is that darkness. and we must respect it, or else i fear all will be lost~

I enjoyed Part of the Math, but overall the boot was too poor quality for me to get much out of it. So I'll happily wait for this EP to arrive and I'm excited to hear it

Not fat shaming. Just painting the picture for you. I see it hit a nerve though, so I'm sorry. I also picture a fedora but I didn't mention that because the post was getting a little long in the tooth. But I see you have a fan club ready to raise their pitchforks so I'll leave well enough alone. Just keep in mind a little patience and optimism goes a long way. You're entitled to your own opinions of course. I'm glad you have other things going on in your life, like the new Nintendo. I was beginning to think your continued existence relied on people on here thinking you were intelligent. It's all good bro.

I'm only teasing because you accidentally let the nice guy veneer slip! Don't sweat it, you're a normal guy. I'm not fat, but nor am I prejudiced about anyone's weight, not least because obesity is directly linked to poverty. I'm not really a 'punching down' kinda guy, except in this here exchange. Revealing also that you assume someone might only defend an easy target if they feel part of that group! Personally, I just have convictions. My only genuine, heartfelt prejudices are that I'm an inverted snob and I loathe people who refer to themselves as either 'creative' or an 'artist'.
Anyway, I'm sure we'd get on well in person over a pint. I like your spunk (no homophobic prejudice, please) and I'm happy to leave it there.

Stan these are some incredibly low vitality posts. These new songs are the opposite of bad news bears and you best believe they will sound incredible in the vinyl rip.

It's just so funny how all of us collected animals can have such different reactions and tastes to the output from members of one band.
I believe that Panda has been the one holding the AC fire with his solo output since MPP (and these new boots have me just as jazzed as the Greaper boots). Dave used to be my fave and now his stuff just does not excite me.
Yay for pluralism.

If the vinyl only decision was Panda's I wonder if the intention was indeed to make this music a little more inaccessible. While we really don't know the details of the recording process, it does seems like this is a completely solo effort. Which makes me think of the Tomboy Box Set, which has the original Panda Mixes LP and that remains the only way to listen to it. Or the original greaper live demos that Sonic gave to us specifically. This time he's not hiding the music in an expensive boxset or on a super fan forum. The record is $15, I paid $22 with shipping cause I had the cash and I want it as soon as possible. For people without record players, the vinyl rip will happen and who knows maybe one day in your life you'll get to hear it on a player with a good system, crazier things have happened.
The reason I sort of like this approach personally is because music is sooooo easily accessed these days. If you use any of the streaming platforms you can add an album into your library pretty much as soon as it's announced and then it will just be there when it comes out. No real effort required. And for me personally it just makes the whole thing a lot less special. A recent example, when the new grizzly bear album came out I didn't even notice it's official release, so it just sat in my library for weeks unlistened.

You know me well enough, besides my placing in the CA hierarchy, and I'm still looking forward to this more than anything except Dave's next record. I predict your prediction is spot on.

Yes! Essentially the whole of all of their creations, across various projects, are growers, even when some are more immediately offering their many plenties right away.
They seem quite well aware of how to ensure that what they bring will improve and also change in unexpected ways into the future!

http://adaywiththehomies.com/ actually has a locator page where you can see stores that are carrying it, I didn't check them all but they do seem to have online pages where you can preorder the ep from them. haven't seen that sort of thing before but it actually sounds like it could be useful in this case.

I bought my copy of the EP as soon as it was announced and I’ve got to say that I’m really liking this vinyl-only release approach but I totally get why some people are pissed off. I just got my first record player last year so that’s very convenient. To me this EP feels like it’s more intended for the die hard PB/AC fans. The limited release makes it very special and I feel like that’s kinda rare these days. Also most people who own record players seem to be very dedicated music fans. I dno but I feel like that’s the demographic here.
From a marketing stand point it’s a rather interesting way of releasing a record. I sorta suspect that it’s cheaper although printing on vinyl isn’t. But when you combine the cost of the ‘normal’ way of releasing music (CD’s, radio, stream services & vinyl) surely it must be cheaper? I really dno tho. So maybe having this EP in limited quantity and vinyl only is the smartest marketing technique for revenue . They know the dedicated PB/AC fan will buy it but some will probably buy it because it’s limited and there interests are peaked. I’m just speculating.

no worries here I'm very excited and will definitely grab the vinyl, but a rip is a rip. It'd just be nice to have high qual digital as well so I can listen to it in places other than at home on a record player.

Y'all take this shit back to the Avey-gush thread. Only Panda OGs welcome here.
To recap: PB don't owe you hatin' ass haters shit, if you don't have a feckin' turntable, tough feckin' ish. Nobody is freaking out about how those indigenous folks in Brazil they made MOTW can't stream the album on Spotify, so its really disingenuous that y'all would be flabbergasted over not having a gosh durn turntable.
To recap: you'll get a guuddamn rip and stfu that's good enough 4 u unless u gonna nut up and buy a turntable.
To recap: ANIMAL FUCKING CRACK BOX: VINYL OWNLY.
To recap: some of y'all drag panda so guuddumn deep into da mud and u wonder why he won't make music readily available to y'all?
Here are my AC hottakes:
-Eucalyptus BLOWS. Avey solo not interesting sense Slasher Flixxx
-Full album efforts from da boyz dumb to differentiate (i.e. Avey songs on PW so good lololol PBPW songs suck ass lmao y'all sound dumb all three of those mother fuckers wrote all 11 of those songs together)
-Based Deak = god king = sleep cycle better than everything sense Fall Be Kind (but everything sense Fall Be Kind also be very good).
So sick of the asshole annoying ass entitlement bullshit. Bunch of 'ucking babies in here.
