Agreed, every section of that song is special to me. The section following the "suddenly I wake up" part is one of the most beautiful parts of the album to me. The harmonies between the violin and lap steel combined with Aveys vocal delivery is transcendant. I think Down There is still my favorite Avey solo work but this is a veeeerrrry close second.

so im onto somthing about when you left me...it seems to get more emotional every single time i listen to it...but

it seems to me avey is a pretty reserved guy...so through this very personal album he's singing and shit and it's beautiful but its still (sans the ending of jackson 5 and the climax of coral lords) very contained...but it dawned on me on the ultimate track..the final how it starts out quiet and very pretty (trying to feel invisible) until it seems like avey is just like "fuck it hehe" and the entire song changes to him belting out the title over clean guitar. it seems to me like he is letting loose and finally voicing something that seems like it had been eating away at him for a while. after this BEAUTIFUL section it returns to a quieter, going back more towards the beginning...until he flips again and you can notice the exact moment (when his voice gets louder and more intense) until he finally gives up and voices what he WANTS. (BASKING IN UR RITUALS...FINDING THE PERFECT DAY :negative: ) AND THAT. IS THE MOST POWERFUL MOMENT OF THE album to me and one of the most EMOTIONALLY INTENSE moments of the discog. im not just connecting volume with emotions btw and i dont know if any of that makes sense but i wa close to tearing up when lsitening to it with that perspective and i hope it makes sense and if ur still listening lets go rangers cup run 18 with k shatty and please dont call them "anco"

no,
at least not on headphones,
anyone has the same problem? it sounds great on speakers but I'm not fond of the headphone experience.

Yeah, I actually agree. It sounds so much better to have the album existing with the environment you're sitting in (ie, out on my porch in the evening) than to have it just in your head.

I understand wat u mean. But the sentiment and feeling has grown on me and feels pretty relatable and sincere. Tbh wish there was more mystical sincere sentiments in modern music, we all got so jaded. sick that avey rides for those moods.

Also the humming starting at 4:20 on ms secret is so beautiful, one of my favorite harmonizing moments on the record

I have a feeling (dont hate me) that avey may never perform these songs live and just move on. Since they are so old and he never debuted them live at mothlight, etc. I could see him using these new solo dates to focus on new work not yet put to album. But I may just be wishing for that because I miss getting "demoitis" with the guys. I love listening to the pre-album live versions, the album versions and then the post-album live versions, and how they change over those periods.

pretty sure he's said the mothlight performance and its material were a one-off thing. i'd be surprised if he didn't play songs from eucalyptus live should he tour in the fall, but it's AC so anything could happen

I think he will play some songs from eucalyptus mixed with the new material, like he played cemeteries, and oliver twist with slasher flicks

he played the same set in Copenhagen. he said he wrote the material specifically for that event, but not that it was a one-off thing. and then he played the set in Asheville the following month (mothlight)

would say that it's a safe bet that he'd continue developing those new tracks rather than revisit material that dates back as late as 2014

plus someone in the live forum that spoke to him on this leg of the tour said that he's in the very early stages of working on a new album, presumably the mothlight stuff

I think the most you could hope for from eucalyptus is maybe a reworked track or two

Been trying to decipher what some of these beauteous tunes are about... feel free to chip-in, dissect, critique, etc...

"Season High"... Moving onward, transcending the bullshit. It's "not something bigger" he's looking for but "something quiet"... Eucalyptus as a whole seems to adhere to this, embracing both what's above and below. The line "looking for the thing that's wrong / it's the chimp's brawl" sounds like a striving to transcend the monkey problems of life, the human-caused misery, the petty social modes of existence. He's returning to a mind state of purity and wonder ("fantasy is on the range," "Halloween can make me change").

"Ms. Secret" seems to be, at least partially, about infidelity, right? He sings, "...and no one was cheating' on us" and "has she told you?" He's nostalgic for a past where "nothing had angles" (i.e. things were simple and straight-forward) and he could "stay up till the sunrise." I'm intrigued by the line, "there's a crowd around my drink / i am alone." It's like he's feeling disconnected from the people around him, retreating into himself.

In the song "In Pieces" he's lamenting the end of his relationship, feeling like a sense of 'whole-ness' is gone (existing as a 'piece' of something). "Thought someday we'd have a riverside," "no bridge but it feels right," "the plan was stick together while we can."

"When You Left Me"... really touching and vulnerable admission of loss (obviously) and yet, I think, triumph, or, at least, hope.

So it's a break-up album...? It also feels like an album of growth to me. There are lines that make me think Avey is seeking a deeper spiritual path ("I pray deep like Buddha / but I don't understand him") of ritual and place and renunciation (he sings about "seeing through possessions" a few times). There's an aura here of melancholy and resignation, but also a mood of true acceptance and, because of that, empowerment and courage.
