Listening to my copy now, very pleased with the pressing!
Sounds great and 180gm was a pleasant surprise. Songs are fantastic too.

I'm just hearing what they do naturally. It' refreshing mainly because we haven't heard it in awhile and it's comfy in nostalgia. I don't think it has much to do with Sleep Cycle other than that it was made by members of the same group. It sounds like campfire songs if Avey kicked Panda off the porch and said to Geo, "Forget the minidiscs, let's jam!!!!"
EDIT: Can anyone crunchitize the offcl DL things plzzz? Waiting on my record...

I'm liking this more and more. I will be honest, I was somewhat disappointed the only straightforward song is Man of Oil, but a few listens through it convinced me this recording is special. The subtle details, especially Geo's parts, really blossom the more you listen

$53?! That's some expensive shipping dude! I am really liking this album but definitely not worth that to be honest...
Guys, I am falling in absolute love with Selection of a Place...you can tell Avey feels so at home in nature and has this yearning to just forget everything back home, but he simply can't, which is why I feel the main line in the pre-chorus or whatever you want to call it is "Wish that I could wake up". Wanting to forget all the work back home, all the contact he has with everyone on his cellular device, and just being in that moment. So beautiful man, such a good song.

Victor sent me the vinyl rip, but I'd like the official DL if you have it.

i am only on my second listen so perhaps i'm judging prematurely, but i'm kinda disappointed by this. i was probably a little too excited for this. i was hoping for stronger use of electronics and field recording and less avey singing and playing guitar.

You're not alone with that. It doesn't help that avey's vocals are mixed really high for Man of Oil and Selection.

Is there any info on any other versions of Selection of a Place? Seems odd that they would say (rio negro version) without the intention of teasing us of other versions... mayhaps there is another version in Coral Orgy?
