Omg this video is such a tease. If they have more synth jams recorded (besides Michael Remember/Dannys Jam) they need to drop that shit asap

Yeah that could be it. I think either way though we're still gonna be calling the song perfect

It's true.
"That chance may come soon. Lennox revealed that he’s begun work on the next batch of solo Panda Bear songs."

The Red Dead soundtrack song? There is definitely a new Red Dead game in the works, I'm not sure why R* haven't said anything yet but I have a mate who works for them and they've been working on it for ages. Maybe Mountain Game will make an appearance there!

I do like it but the BBC version will do me just fine, I'm glad they did it, and old Taste. I really appreciate their thinking there.
One thing I don't quite get in general though is why not release music from the vault? Like, I appreciate the marketing angle and album cycles and so on and they are somewhat indebted to a record company which has staff to pay and so on and therefore it's important not to jeopardise album sales, etc etc etc. But if you've no intention of ever making certain recordings commercially available, why not just put them out there? Or stick them on bandcamp? I don't think they're at all stingy far far far from it, , they're both prolific and generous, they throw out plenty of surprises along the way (Winter, TTG, Odds, Takeaway live versions among many other one-offs, a whole host of EPs and non-album singles), but then you do get these lost songs and eras and I wonder, 'why has that specifically been buried?'
I'm thinking mainly about the Down There tour lost EP. If there's room in this world for a Pete Rock remix of Crosswords, there's room for Song For Jerome. Know what I mean? Maybe Dave just doesn't like those songs very much.

Their level of restraint is insane. We all know how great those lost Avey jams are. My guess would be they're a little too personal for him to go back to. But I do hope he follows through with what he said in that AMA and releases them in some shape or form at some stage.
But ya. Put me in their shoes and it's a different story. PBVSGR would've been a double album for sure. Still crazy to me that Pete had to urge Noah to release all of the tracks. Like, how? How could you sit on them all?

if i had to guess i would say that the guys think the idea of releasing the lost tracks/bsides that they aren't psyched on or possibly don't even like is just a boring idea. you have access to the bootleg versions (which personally i'd probably end up liking more than a studio version of many of the songs anyways) & you have the ability to make playlists. how much better would it be if AC did the same thing and released them on bandcamp? as for the down there practice session recording, i would like to see that surface someday. but for now the knitting factory boot will do just fine. in any case, i respect their decision not to do anything with the bsides

Nah there's a seemingly full-band version they played at one of their DJ sets from ages back. Someone posted a recording of it in this thread I think. Thought it was page 48 but apparently not

can someone catch me up with what was on all those tapes that got stolen from them in the early 2000s? that's the AC material I really want to hear.
and who knows, maybe someday they'll do another crack box esque release (hopefully a better one in terms of sound quality) that'll have tons of rehearsal sessions/never before heard jams. For a band with such an expansive and diverse discography I'm willing to bet they have lots of songs we've never even heard before. (probably not like, 1995 era smashing pumpkins levels of B/C/D/E/F-sides but, maybe something similiar? I hope.)

I've kinda suspected this is true, like the songs we've heard (including unreleased songs, demos, bootlegs etc) are only a fraction of all the songs the dudes have written or recorded. A lot of musicians are selective and AC seem to be especially so, and coupled with the fact that they're pretty prolific songwriters makes me think they probably have hours and hours of stuff we'll never hear
Like maybe Panda has hours worth of Swallow at the Hollow-style demos
