I too am stoked for the camping weekend! I have some good news for anyone still interested in attending. I have a 3 ticket + discounted car pass package for sale. If you're interested shoot me a message. Not looking to make any money on the tickets. I just want to make sure they go to a good home.

Hi gang. I haven't been around here since day 1, but I don't really feel the early post imploring a privileged caste system of preference for ticket access was very polite or fair anyway.
I'm obviously a humongous AC fan, and I've been having dreams about precisely this kind of AC "gathering" or concert for years.
I will do whatever it takes to obtain access to a ticket, I can go in on lodging, gas, transportation, I can drive us if need be, so on. I'm able to fend off bugs and beasts, but my first intention is to do no harm, rather than be a vicious aggressor!
I'm desperate here, and I'm grateful for everything AC has given to us!
edit: if I buy a scalper-priced 3-ticket package for $1000, is there anyone here who will pay $333 for a ticket? I'm willing to go this route if I can find equal interest from others to help take the load off
I sent you a PM!

hey thanks for being awesomeeeeeee phantom. Looks like a lot of people had last minute change of plans, there weren't all these people with extra tickets a few weeks ago. I'm grateful at any rate. Hope everyone who wants to go, gets to go!

I haven't checked to see if there are any specific rules or guidelines, is it BYO as far as alcohol goes? Good beer in the woods with AC sounds like my type of weekend.

Put together a FAQ based on information on Fernwood's website and calling them on the phone.
Q: Can I bring my pets?
A: Not this weekend, the animals will be us and the collective.
Q: What is Quiet Time?
A: We ask all of our guests to respect the quiet hours from 10:00 PM until 8:00 AM. That means that we ask you to turn off any music and keep your voices low so that your neighbors can sleep.
Q: Can I book extra reservations/camp sites at Fernwood this same event weekend?
A: It's completely booked, and the majority of the campsites are reserved for 'first come first serve' ticket holders for this event.
Q: Is bedding provided in the Tent Cabins?
A: No, the tent cabins are just like camping. You need to bring your own sleeping bags, flashlights etc. There is no electricity or plumbing in the tent cabins. There is a double bed on the bottom bunk, a single bunk above and another single bed. There is a picnic table and a fire pit outside the tent cabins.
Q: Will I have a signal? Phone, wifi, internet?
A: Cell phone coverage is spotty in Big Sur but can be found at Fernwood Resort in parts of the campground, near the open meadow is best, and in the parking lot in front of the resort adjacent to Highway 1. Verizon & AT&T have cell phone towers in Big Sur. The towers are located south of us at the top of the grade leading out of the Big Sur valley. AT&T also has a cell phone tower at Point Sur which gives coverage in places with line of sight to the tower.
Free Wi-Fi is available in the Bar & Grill, Restaurant area.
Q: Food? Eating? Drinks? Sustenance?
A: It's camping - you have a fire circle and some sites will even have a bbq/grill setup. You're allowed to cook. You can also just buy food there:

If you have a camping pass and car pass, you're guaranteed a camping spot right?

I will be using a zoom h2n recorder both days/nights/whenevers, and will attempt to take some purdy photos with something that isn't a cellphone

Yes. However, there is one camp spot per grouping, so if you are part of a ticket bundle (say, 3 or 4), you are designated the same spot as a group. An extension to this point is that group ticket bundles must enter the grounds together, at the same time. "Hi, here's our 3-party ticket, and heres our party of three people!"

i don't know how close together we'll all end up, but i'd be more than willing to plan, purchase and cook a communal dinner/meal at some point, depending on how the music is scheduled. if anyone would be interested...

Well they didn't. Some guy doing sound (or something like that) for them had access to a bunch of soundboards and put out Big Sur for us. He also promised to post a bunch more shows from those spring/early summer 2009 shows and then never did

I'd love something like that! I will be at a camp probably mostly alone with plenty of extra space (I won't be lonely, regardless), and will be cooking on probably both the campfire and a small propane stove for extra space.
This thursday I'm probably going to post my contact info in this thread incase anyone wants to hit me up last minute and work out ways to coordinate hanging once we're there. (i'm not a regular from CA for a decade that people are gonna know by face or whatever, I just want to have a good time with likeminded folk)

oh man i would cry if they released something like that after this fest.
they could do like a comp live cd featuring a couple performances from every band
they could make a video of every performer and all of us singing along to an acoustic Derek
even special "weekend" tshirts would make me happy

hey, anyone driving, that has space to the point that there would be no inconvenience on your part, have an extra sleeping bag they'd be willing to lend. we fly out tomorrow, packing right now, and we can reasonably only fit one sleeping bag in our luggage. not a big deal if it doesn't work out, but wanted to ask.

Wish I had an extra I could lend you. If I find one REALLY cheap tonight at the surplus store, I'll pick one up just to have and bring with me incase you or someone else is still in need

what's everyone gonna do before 5? other than drinking beer, smoking weed, and staring at the trees?

It looks like a healthy amount of time for Animal Collective to play lengthy sets both nights

Work has been pretty hectic for the past few days and it's only making me more excited to clock out Thursday and hit the road Friday morning. As for plans throughout the day, I'm looking forward to chilling with good people, exploring the area and of course kicking back with some good beer. Anyone got a frisbee?

I feel like it could go either way – on the one hand it's the first time they're throwing their own mini-festival, so it'd make sense for them to have some surprises in store to make it extra special. Plus if they throw in some unexpected songs it'd help keep things fresh between the 2 sets.
But on the other hand, the dudes have to rehearse any surprise songs ahead of time and rework them to fit their current equipment/lineup as we all know. And I'm not sure if they'd do that just for 2 shows
I have a feeling they're gonna stick to their setlist that they've been using since the beginning of this month. Which would still be dope, obviously. Super jealous of all u guys that are going
