It's a pretty distressing listen
the constant recorder morse code and the music teacher woman talking incessantly is like sleep paralysis
the piano that filters thru those other elements is knowing you're asleep before the nightmare starts to loosen its grip. The "Dapper dan" climax is where you can finally shake the dream and wake. The end is the feeling of sitting next to a window after waking up with a headache.

ya know roopn that's a pretty good description of it, except for me the dapper dan part is actually the most heartbreaking. It feels like... unattainable happiness? Mirth you can never take part in? I'm not sure how to phrase it correctly but that entire song just really, really bums me out. It is beautiful, but it's sad too.
It's crazy to think that the same dudes who made My Girls and Floridada started off their musical careers making two of the saddest (but in different ways) albums I can think of (STGSTV and Panda Bear - s/t)

agreed!
also I should've said more clearly: the dapper dan part I meant was the MOST distressing, which is why It shakes you out of the "dream"

Anybody able to decipher the morse code?
I was wondering this too - is it actual morse code or is it just bleepin and bloopin
also @roopn Ah, that makes more sense. This song is my late-night-feel-bad-session go to song

once while searching thru some random sample websites I found the dapper dan sample (not that it was hidden or obfuscated or anything but it was a weird ass moment)
