I dunno how possible this is, but you both should try to combine the two versions together, since space animal you don't have vocals, I think they would compliment each other really really well tbh
Aww thanks! Space Animal, also thought yours sounded awesome. do you have like remix capabilities? I wonder if I gave you the vocal stems if you could like change the tempo and try to mix them in yours? haha. I guess if you had Ableton this would be potentially possible.

Appreciate the compliments!
Its a cool idea and would've been a fun little project but I don't think it can be done.. I used Ableton to make my song and also have remix capabilities.. but this wont be possible because of the vastly different tempos.. my version is about half the time stamp as yours.. My song is 4:15 and I only use Verse A, Verse B, and the bridge.. Every chorus part is not in my song and Verse A is only half as long.... and the song is still almost as long as yours hehe.
Usually you can get away with up to 10 bpm vocal speed up or slow down without affecting pitch, 15bpm if you're desperate and can hide the vocals well... but yea any more than that and it starts sounding really bad... in this case we are looking at about a 40bpm tempo slowdown.. would've been a fun idea.
I'm happy to keep my submission instrumental anyhow and stay true to the style of music I generally make.

I can't figure out the timing of the section right before the "fall back" section of Spilling Guts :S Been trying to get past it, but somehow this is missing me up.

take the hit or take the fall part?
well im listening to it and it is a bit tricky.. the song as a whole is 4/4 and doesn't change im pretty sure
the "take the hit" part is 2 measures.. except I think for that part what happens is that they start doing the "fall back" part on the 3rd quarter note of the second measure .. so they are starting 2 beats early
so basically the "take the hit" section lasts 6 quarter notes total.. its really 1 1/2 measures.. on the 3rd quarter note of the second measure they start the "fall back" part... does that make sense?

I was confused when learning to play this part singing and playing guitar/keyboards. Does this help?

I wonder if we'd all be able to produce a tab for the whole album too, like just lyrics and chords for each track.

these floridada covers are so good that it finally encouraged me to work on my remix. i know there's already a few versions done but i think we all find the song an inspiration

lol this dumb joke got taken off both soundcloud and tindeck. well just so everyone can chuckle to themselves it was the entirety of wipeout playing before the bridge in floridada

Dogg, you (and spaceanimal) saved me! It totally makes sense now. Funny how deceivingly tricky this little diddy can be.

If I had a lot more time and patience, as well as the ability to convince a 70-member ensemble to perform it for me, I would try my hand at a concert wind band version of On Delay. I've been percolating ideas for it for the past month or so but it's a huge task to write a score correctly, let alone at all. Plus even if I did manage to complete it I wouldn't be able to get anyone to perform it.
It's fun to think about though. On Delay would be the perfect choice for a full band because there are so many moving parts and different voices weaving in and out throughout the song.

Finally got a chance to start working on my Vertical cover, and it's beginning to sound really rad! Excited to share once it's done (I'm hoping by the end of this weekend!). It's a little bit more straight than a lot of y'all's, but I'm using the cover to try out some new ways of recording electronix, and finding a lot of really exciting things, so I'm hoping it will be interesting...!
Congrats on all who have made their covers! So rad to be making things, and so nice to hear your guys' voices and sounds and such.
Spectrum--love the way mixed up the form, cool way to approach a cover, especially a song with many parts. Also cool bass part at the end.
johnnyvulpine--love the underwater voices and the whole vibe in general. Really like how long you wait before bringing in the vox.
alvin--hahaha, this is rad! sound like its being sung from a hammock in key west. Such pleasant mellow vibes, like everything in soft focus.
knives---whoa love this!!! everyone's right those drums kill it. would be really interested in hearing your thought process on the interpretation--like what parts you focused on translating for your cover. also, if you're still looking for someone to do vox on top of it i'd be more than happy to, but probably wouldn't get to it til next week...
frumpkin--where'd yours go??!! Really liked it when I listened to it a while back. Can't quite put my finger on what this reminds me of...but its a really specific vibe! I feel like I would hear this on an unmarked 45 i bought at a salvation army or something. Actually reminds me some of the local bands i was really into growing up.
hybrination--very vibey, i love it. definitely has the feels thing going on. also like the choices you made changing the placement of some of the melodies and the changes you made in the chord sequences. Takes some of the weight certain sections have in the original and turns them into beautiful featherlight moments.
samuelaaron--whoa love this! Love how distinct the vox are from the synths. your voice really reminds me of Sam Moss https://sammoss.bandcamp.com/ you may dig him! Definitely not a similar soundscape but I think I hear a similarity between the way you inflect your words and phrasings.
spaceanimal--whoa I like how you and alvin made super sleepy versions of floridada, haha. This cover makes the song sound like an afternoon nap.
All right I'll see if I can wrap this sucker up! Really excited to share this with y'all hope all is good with yous and yours LOTS OF LOVE!
