Thanks for keeping it cool and classy Deakin. There should be nothing but positive vibes right now. its only April and we've already got Painting With, Gnip Gnop/Hounds of Bairro, and an incredible tour from the other guys. Now we're getting the long anticipated Deakin album just weeks later! Plus more tour dates on the way! It's a downright glorious time to be an Animal Collective fan. They're truly spoiling us!

How long is the album? 6 songs feels a little short, but I imagine they're all somewhat lengthy right?

Wurd .
There's a stronger dialogue to this whole process than that LA Weakly nob might ever grasp.....

We all make mistakes , and beware , if you are in the public eye as most will come back to haunt you - but when the product of that is fedback into this sort of songwriting .....
.....were all much much the richer . Its an unpredictable world . Thank god ....

scUber props to the Dibbster for putting all this together and going the extra miles with everything .
I'm excited to see the book ......

for a long minute I thought that was Deakin writing the above post and I got very confused lol

I should pay more attention to usernames when I'm reading posts

damn, some Sonic-Deakin back and forth would have been sweet. Anyway thanks for your very chill posts Josh and I look forward to hearing what I assume will be very chill music. And thank you Pete for everything you've contributed to CA thus far, I hope you continue to feel comfortable and appreciated here.

The problem is that it's been a bit unclear since the announcement earlier in the year if this was Deakin's 'album' that was going out to Kickstarter backers first, or if this recording was made purely to fulfil the Kickstarter campaign.

Most people I reckon have the idea it's a bit of both.

broooo my bro hello <3

I guess you're right

seems like this is cassette mostly songs that have been kicking around for years now and the next, more "official debut" album/whatever might be newer stuff that he's been psyched to record since the cassette came together more fully

I think I remember him saying that he ended up not being happy with what he recorded while he was in Mali so I guess he did it from scratch instead

circles of love back atchoo....
me n JD McDibberoo did the back n forth on the cassette last year & in january .

the 'good house' is a mix I did to try to help see where he wanted it to reside .
Hopefully I found the country , and the street at least .......

he definately has plans for more studio recordings peace&lovepeace&lovexpetek

I saw a link for the freebird floating around on /mu/, and downloaded it just so i could hear like 30 seconds of the first song. i was too curious about how it sounded, but i'm waiting until the official announcement to purchase / listen to the whole thing. can't wait- the bit that i heard sounded fantastic. so psyched!

Just popped this album on a beautiful morning walk and my goodness, lyrical and vocally, Deakin delivers!

For the first 5 songs, his voice sounded like Noah or Dave at times or a mix of both (in a good way), but on Good House it's like he found his own. Really beautiful and inspiring. Super psyched we can all listen to this now!

Plus, the added live tracks also give a voice to Malian Musicians, whose voices are trying to be silenced as a result of the current conflicts in Mali. I think this release is a fitting tribute to them.

Now the question is, what's going to be included with the Keep kicks?

I'm assuming Josh did all the instrumentation. But maybe he got Brian DeGraw or his Prince Rame Pals to help out with percussion.

Also a question to the backers: were any lyrics included with your package?
