Kinda bummed we didn't get digital files of the bonus tracks on release day, I had assumed the 7" itself wasn't coming until March because of pressing delays (which have become somewhat common). I guess it will be fun to receive an additional package a month after my LP comes in, AC subscription service!

REALLY hope the 7" is clear so we can jam with the slipmat!

Ah okay. Exciting that there's two more tracks on the way.
there's actually four more tracks on the way, they have another set of two songs that they want to do something with.

anyone notice that the sleeve says Colin Stetson appears on Floridada, not Lying in the Grass?

oh huh has anyone mentioned the sleeve also mentions that two golden girls episodes are sampled in golden gal? I saw that ppl said that the first bit is the one from "rose the prude", but what's the sample from "And Ma Makes Three"?

Worst case scenario, 7" is smaller so we will at least see SOME of the slipmat

Late on the boat here but TND is p much right about this record. Those who were complaining about how P4K's review lacked specifics should watch his video.
And I mean, I'm trying to enjoy this as much as possible but Panda's songs (w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶l̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ ̶e̶x̶c̶e̶p̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶B̶a̶g̶e̶l̶s̶ nvm) really drag this thing down. I mean, his tracks here are easily his most uninspired and lackluster output since ever and I seriously can't stand his choppy, robotic vocal style; it's so devoid of warmth and meandering (and not in his usual way). Perhaps they were wary of repeating CHz's backlash regarding the predominance of Avey Tare over PB? I dunno, but Panda's songwriting here is glaringly mediocre.
I almost feel as if there could have been a good-to-stellar EP to come out of this thing but they instead decided to stretch out of the length of this release with half-assed filler. A couple of other people have made this comparison - albeit for different reasons - but TLOP is an even more flawed record than PW in certain ways but what it has that PW doesn't is a certain boldness and imagination that compels me to revisit it more and more. TLOP - like a classic AC record - reveals more itself with each listen but PW seems to reveal even less of itself with each listen.

I completely disagree about the P-Bear songs being lackluster because I've read the lyrics.

And on that note I am out of here until the yet unannounced Toronto show. It's been a fantastic time lurking around and posting during the PW lead up. See you all in an undetermined amount of time.

The setlist was bonkers. I wish the audio quality in the venue was slightly better...... Im used to better from union transfer. Regardless, I'll have the whole show on youtube soon for whoever's curious. I'll do my best to adjust the overwhelming bass in the sound

I totally agree! The first couple times I listened to it, there were a couple songs that I wasn't blown away by. After a few more listens, I am completely hooked. This record is absolutely brilliant, and I have a feeling that it will click for a lot of other people after multiple listens.

Lets keep the setlist spoilers out of this thread
Also guys I'll work on uploading tomorrow. It's hella late and I'm exhausted. Imma try to fix the bass tonight and get uploading in the morning
Also Takyon I feel ya man.
Minorly breaking the rule I said at the top of this post to respond to that:

man this album is goddamn perfect. i liked chz a lot but this is kind of seeming considerably sweeter. its such a great play-through. so many good textures and vibes... it has such a great consistent energy and pacing. it works really well as a cohesive listen but each song does something totally unique.
"take the hit or take the fall" ....best part in spilling guts. that song is perfection.

"Get out of here with all your hippy dippy psychedelic shroom balls tripping nonsense. Humans own the world we can do whatever we want to it. God created the world and is in his image so us being the creators we can destroy it too. Who cares if some stoners from New York like to scuba dive. I like my 4x4s just the way they are!"
alrighty
Spent a bit of time with the album myself (trying not to read many reviews) and think it's just okay. I get the feeling from Floridada - the best song by a wide margin in my view - that they really could have pulled off some wonderful, concise pop album, but there's not enough variety in the sound (most songs seem to use the same dark synths and go at the same breakneck tempo, and the overuse of Boys Latin vocals are a problem) so it ends up feeling disappointingly small-scale and one-note in comparison to their other stuff. It could well have just been the huge buildup (this the first album of theirs I've been around for as a fan) for such a tiny, cheery album when people might have been expecting something colossal, so I reckon it will be looked back on favourably.
