Suicide's repetition, unpolished electronic sounds, and yelps always reminded me of AC

Came out 1999, so it's technically not proto, but definitely influential.

Not sure if I've ever heard the band talk directly about Boredoms, though having Jeremy Hyman in slasher flicks must mean that Dave's definitely a fan

So the last minute or so of this song has always reminded me of Animal Collective, to the point where I get it stuck in my head sometimes and think it's them.

sung tongs

mostly from 2:19 onward. those backing yelps! and actually, with the drum machine, variety of vocal processing and music concrete, the arrangements, might actually most resemble something from "down there."

I know The Beach Boys have been mentioned over and over again in this thread but this one reminds me so much of Graze that I couldn't not post it:

The Beatles' Tell Me What You See. The lyrics and the vocal delivery really sound like something from an earlier Panda Bear record. Especially the chorus.

the backing vox on this and the sound of the recording in general gives me crazy prospect hummer vibes. I swear I can hear panda when they sing "I am, I am" and "so pale".

it's also just a very good song.

Someone on another thread mentioned early Kraftwerk as a reference point for Hollinndagain, and the resemblance is really uncanny. Listen to this and tell me you don't hear Pride & Fight:
