imagine the live improv potential for recycling....... could be a new show closer or even opener + transition into the next song with that crazy ending section
when panda and avey both hit that high note singing "GOLDEN GAAAAAL!" in golden gal makes me want to cry every time fuck!!!!! its such a sweet note and it hits right between the ribs

overall sound/production and synths overall all over this album is gorgeous.
i think this easily ties sj/mpp for me, and easily at least a bit better than chz. and it has the benefit of being fresh too. such a god damn good album. so many good vibes

it's probably my favourite song here. it reminds me of 'happiness is a warm gun' structurally - consisting of different non-repeating parts, flowing one into another perfectly.

kinda feel that way abt all avey songs except maybe fldada. vert, burg, bagels, delay and golden are all kind of insane in their own way. i dont quite like vertical as much as the latter three, but godddaaaaamn. soooo good.

first thoughts...
wonderfully complex album
initial favorites: hocus pocus vertical the burglars
on delay might be the most psychedelic things they've ever done
i love the "i wasn't there when moses parted the sea" line in Bagels
Tons to like and love
Painting With is total fans record.

Spilling Guts isn't being talked about enough.
Its so fucking catchy and head-bobbing-able, and doesn't overstay its welcome. Plus the lyrics, and that last vocal part at the end is delivered with so much emotion.
"Take the hit or take the fall,
Fall back. Fall back. Fall back. Fall back."

I was #teamnoleak until the FLAC got out. Now on my first listen and I gotta say it is wonderfully complex and as kooky as I was expecting.
The doo doo doos in Bagels though

I'm absolutely blown out of the water by how good this is. I knew I would enjoy it, but this is much, much better than I thought it would be.

I can't believe that 17 years into a career these guys are still shocking me with what they can do. I'm beside myself.

At this point, I am just really, really, REALLY digging all of the bg nuances that got lost in the LE Crosley release. That bell-ish/jangly sound that someone is just absolutely shaking/hitting the hell out of during the last part of "Burglars" makes me so goddamn giddy! And that vocoded part in the bg in "Golden Gals" saying something like "Where you at? Where you at?"(???). This is basically everything I wanted out of CHz; what I didn't like so much about CHz (and kinda admired at the same time) was that it sounded like a near-flooded space engine flying full speed through a radiated gas cloud.

I have no idea where this is gonna fall among the AC discog personally... Listened to it ~5 times already.
Fav trax Hocus Pocus, The Burglars, Bagels in Kiev, and Golden Gal (although On Delay/Spilling Guts/Recycling are dope too). Def no bad songs
they did a great job incorporating more reverby/droney elements in songs like Hocus, Bagels, and On Delay. Also did a fantastic job of keeping the songs v v v interesting despite how short they are.
Recycling is a GREAT closer, a great change from the past few (which have all been great, just a bit samey vibe-wise). Reminds me of something that would be on SMiLE or something (kek beach boys) but only the end of it.
All in all the boyz did a great job keeping this album fresh throughout it, the melodies are grEat, the instrumentation is extraordinary, the writing/vocal split among songs also helps with the "freshness." Maybe their poppiest album, 100% unique and still AnCo though, and while I didn't exactly get the same feely feels that I got from other records, I think after more listens/lyrical understanding/general warming up to the songs I'll get there. Rn I give it a 9/10

This is like listening to it again brand new. It hits so hard in HQ.
Also, this is a production masterpiece. Thanks Ben H. Allen, IV.
