dude i know. avey's gone for the gut a lot the last few years––laughing hieroglyphic, gotham, that it won't grow... i think the 2nd half of golden gal may hit even deeper than any of those

i really hope someone who knows how to properly rip an album does it soon. the way this album slowly trickled out into our hands this time around was really underwhelming for the fans like me that can't control themselves... (bathroom recordings->amazon clips->already the 3rd single is coming out on monday->first 1eak is terrible). the album kills tho so i ain't even disgruntled :smugdog:

Can we get a lyrics thread up? Should I start it???

It'd be cool to pass the time by getting everyone to decipher all the lyrics on the album. From what I can understand, the lyrics are very good, they discuss interesting topics (Bagels, Golden Gal, etc.)

listened to this twice last night cuz im a weak little bitch and couldnt wait any longer.

but i dont regret it. sounded amazing even on the terrible quality. i dont even know if i will be able to handle the full 320.

overall impressions:

some of their best work, for totally different reasons when compared to other albums. this is why AC is so great. actually exceeded my expectations. this was very strange yet still very accessible. I can see some high reviews for this. i saw someone post on reddit that their first impressions were MPP + rugrats = painting with. I actually think that is a great description ha. tracks were consistently good throughout, floridada and lying in the grass arent probably wouldnt even make my top 6 from this album which is saying a lot. I think I am the only one who has said this so far, but i think bagels is the weakest track if i am to make a criticism. wasnt on the same level as any of the others, IMO.

reserving further thoughts for when i get to hear a 320 version.

Yeah, the version I have has golden gal listed as Summing The Wretch, explaining the confusion.

Good God, I cannot contain my excitement for this. I LOVE so much about this record. Every time I've listened(going through my 3rd listen meow), I've found myself thinking "hmm this song is a little weaker" but next time around I feel just the opposite. I can't find any legitimately "weak" tracks...I love it!

That said, I do think that Bagels is my favorite tune...Burglars is up there, but the line, "I wasn't there when Moses parted the sea/I wasn't there with your grandpa back in Kiev" just gets me every time!

This isn't about where your head's at.

I am all for figuring out these lyrics...mindbogglingly cool.

This album is INCREDIBLE! It's leaving a much stronger first impression than Centipede Hz did.

Early favorites are "Hocus Pocus", "Vertical", "The Burglars" and "Bagels in Kiev"!

"Recycling" sounds a lot like the "Acid Wash" demo (in a great way!)

Is there a copy of this out there that is broken up by the individual tracks yet? I'm still listening to the vinyl rip that's the whole album...

Hocus Pocus is definitely my fav

Listened to the best rip out there.

Listening to slightly low quality for my first real go may be damaging but then again so is assuming the album would be so GOAT that it would be wrong any other way. Also I'm weak willed. And it's honestly listenable.

And it's a great AC album. I'll stop myself there cause I barely listened more than once but I heard enough to know the shit is pretty fucking good.

I've listened through about 5 times now and it just keeps getting better with every listen. And STILL, I feel like it's gonna require so many more listens before I fully grasp what the hell is going on.

Also, let this sink in for a second. Every time they tour the songs first, we always love the energy and sound from the bootlegs/live, and then feel let down by how tame the studio recordings sound. The studio version for this one sound fucking great. HOW AMAZING IS THIS SHIT GONNA BE LIVE?

Wow, on my second listen through the record now, it's all so awesome. A lot of it is still kind of confusing to me, just like Lying in the Grass was in the beginning. A good sign I feel, the songs that are like that are usually the one's that stay with me the longest. So feels like an album full of growers, they've really succeded in creating something fresh.

It might be something different. Floridada had a video, LITG had an app, Golden Gal might get similar treatment.

I eat at the courier every morning I'm down there, you may have seen me at one point.
