Peebs used to play his version of Guy's Eyes, right? A thousand years ago they used to play Comfy in Nautica, and some of the Young Prayers. Slasher Flixxx played some Down There stuff. WHY NOT.
when did they play young prayers stuff as AC? that would be awesome to hear!
I am apparently an emotional terrorist and TOTALLY conflating my own mental desires with reality, but in my memory, there are totally setlists in the All Known Recordings thread that have AC playing YP tracks. Looks like I'm wrong though.
Not in all known recordings no, but that's because it's on Animal Crack Box.

oh my goodness imagine Jeremy Hyman drumming for Alvin Row!!!
edit: or if they close on purple bottle again the harmonies can be so crisp because panda doesn't have to multitask as much

I really can say after 6 listens that the only downside to this album is that the sections of some of the songs come too much out of nowhere but that's where the Beatles and ramones influence is more obvious. For me, album is a 8.9 and only growing with each listen <3 <3 u all
This is interesting. Some of the jumps in LitG are a little jarring and the ending seems to be over too soon, if you know what I mean. It got me wondering whether the whole album will feel like this, like the guys are restraining themselves for no real reason. As great as LitG is, you could easily see it hitting at least 4:30 on an older record. Whether that's a good thing or not I guess we'll never know but I'm sure it will be a talking point when this thing drops.

Thought that was bc vinyl release was that date. Like you could buy it in record stores if it was vinyl

I feel like at this point a freebird would sort of be underwhelming to me, I've waited this long to hear the record I'd probably just wait the rest of the time to hear it officially. An album freebirding months in advance is a lot more exciting than a album that freebirds a couple of weeks in advance.

MPP too but only the vinyl if I'm recalling correctly (original freebird was a 128 vinyl rip on XMAS)

At the risk of sounding like a total basic betch, does anyone know why Patchfark hasn't been reviewing the sangles? The extra coverage can only help our boiz, right?
Sorry if it's been covered already; I can't always keep up with this thread...

I think cos this is gonna be a big critical moment for P4k and they want to be on the right side of history/branding

is it just me, or is p4k falling into irrelevance ? it's probably just me, but i haven't checked that site in ages. it's so predictable/not at all cutting edge. you know it once was a site which once broke exciting, progressive new albums. if STGSTV came out today, p4k wouldn't give it an 8.9 like they did in 2000, they'd give it a 5.7 or something

stereogum is chill.
p4k just feels like they came up in the game with ac and ac was their poster boy for a minute and now they feel self-conscious abt even covering ac somehow(?) for coming on so hard during the years leading up to summer of chillwave. its kind of romantic actually. its much easier 4 them 2 support their arcade fires/lcd bros cuz they were endorsed by bowie(?)/mainstream beyond just my girls?

i honestly don't get it. they're pimping out bands like diiv (2 recent BNTs!) and real estate but not animal collective? these are good songs! they endorse far far worse. it's just weird

who cares, if the album is good then it's good; I don't need some review site to justify my opinion
numbered 1-10 scores suck because they just form meaningless ideologies about how good a work is; centipede hz is still my favorite despite its 'p4k score' and I could have heard it sooner if I wasn't blinded by some digits that were assigned to it before my first listen
That being said, pretty sure they wrote in an article about Painting With that they are "Of course excited for new Animal Collective."

i completely agree. but i simultaneously find it odd that a website that generally highly rates acclaimed bands' pop-leaning projects wouldn't even review these relatively agreeable singles
