Okay, I've listened a few times, I'm ready to make an assessment.
Ppl frequed when the boys said they wanted to make a "traditional pop" record. This song is so fun & inventive and I love seeing how they can be creative in a smaller space, but this song is nothing like anything I would call "traditional." It sounds SO new, SO different, SO right now; but it still sounds exactly like Animal Collective, or at least how I would expect them to sound in 2016.
That squibby-bass bit sounds a lot like Slasher Flicks, Peanut Butter's vocals definitely have some Mr. Noah touches; its incredible how strong / good / perfect his voice has gotten over the years. He sounds so confident singing this song, its most noticable with that OUTRAGEOUS saxophone bits, which get crazy & glitchy in the end and I love that.
You can totally see how the implementation of their "let's use shit we don't like" rule in the studio. Like, there's a physical resistance against the saxophone part & the song fights it (if that makes sense) and it makes the song complicated in a way that is so sonicly interesting, but not overly dense like CHz could be at times.
Their harmonies sound incredible. THAT PIANO RIFF & its variations is melting my heart. I love this song. I love this song. I'm so glad I've been playing the refresh game with this page for the last day and a half. It paid off so hard.
I Can't Wait For Munday. Hopefully Domino Preorders Will Get A Download As Well.
thanK yoU animaL collectivE. I am so excited for your new record.

this song is incredible, sort of an odd choice for a single based off hearing much more accessible/instant hooks in the samples. but the subtle changes in the percussion get me hype and bobbin. little goes a long way.
im overlistening tho
drop the record boys i have no self-control

I love those low groaning noises in the background, sounds like avey's back at it making weird noises into pitch shifters. Reminds me of the 2005 live rework of good lovin outside

it's too flat, it's sounds un-inspired, i feel no magic, it lacks the sophisticated way of using sounds. I feel like there's no soul (for the lack of a better word) ? the last 30 seconds are really nice though. 2nd half is pretty good.

the lyrics for this are pretty difficult but i think i got most of them!
all the pieces where they ought to be
but it's clear that we don't look like me
pick a place around the table top
make a push to make the momentous
say you (?) to say what's wrong and make it no one to cover
there's a way to (?) as long as there's a light to discover it
like a twisted stick let's drift through the sick and find a level space
cinch to say
it's a god that feels all things unknown
and i ring within the rain, you know
that a shape to say the instincts there
but our virtue to deny the thing
know that cause and move to cause and death are (???)
in the law there's move to move as there's a need to uncover it
as a joker of suds let's drift through the mud and lift this itchy veil, same old tale
get mixed in, this crippling fixture
tryna approach the hidden mixtures
get mixed in, this crippling fixture
tryna approach the hidden picture
for a misplaced stash let's search through the trash
and write this ignorant lurch, wicked urge
raise the gap above a whisper
speak to sound a spoiling blister
raise the gap above a whisper
taught to cure a blister picture

I feel like the magic is really stretched out across the track, started off kind of digging it and then as it progressed the bass became more prominent and this super sweet song becomes more apparent right up until the end.

oh damn, I love this way more than Floridada. Been lamenting that I wasn't as into that song as most people seemed to be. Now I'm psyched for this album, holy shit!

the way the percussion sounds reminds a lot of aveys solo stuff from the down there tour. these melodies and changes are so weird. Lovin this. I really wonder what people mean when they say these songs don't go anywhere(but I guess I'll have to hear the whole thing to really make any judgements). Then again I remember p4k saying that about rosie oh and that's one of my favs off hz. At this point I really hope the album doesn't freebird, especially in shit quality, because I feel like we have enough to hold us over for now, especially considering there may still be one more track coming right? Seems like they are really trying to do some cool stuff with promo right before it drops, and it would be a shame if that was ruined by a freebird. Maybe they will release a second song through the app in a couple days? Either way, ACeason is here, the app is the fifth memeber.

yeah agreed, I think with this and 1 more song I should be able to survive a few more weeks. Especially if they do a stream before it comes out which I think they will
also both tracks so far have had some really sweet modular synth fuckery and that would be harder to appreciate if it freebirds in shit quality

Not trying to agro, definitely just want to dialogue - what about this isn't magical to you? There so many different sounds working together in a rush, its wonderful. That piano bit ....

i'm all about discussing different opinions, but you'd think people on an AC fan forum would get that AC songs can take quite a few listens before revealing their full majesty. remember the first time you heard peacebone? those jarring electronics were so distinct from feels that i imagine many diehard fans were put off at first. but it's now widely recognized as one of their best openers
give it time. if you still don't like it after a week, fine. but AC is not a band you dismiss on the first (or second or third) listen

Fun fact about Peacebone's unlistenablility on first trip through: my high school girlfriend went to Oberlin the year they played there on the Strawberry Jam tour-cycle, and for some reason, her homesickness/hate of Oberlin/all sad feelings channeled into a hatred of AC, so when we broke up because she hella cheated on me I made myself get super into AC.
That first listen of Peacebone is rough. But each playthrough was one more f**k you to C**** P*******, so gosh darn it I could learn to love it because she hated it. Eventually, the sounds of that song didn't remind me of bitterness, but instead of joy. Thanks ac bros.
Point being, I went into AC because I thought their music "sucked" but someone I didn't like thought they sucked so I wanted to like them. Eventually, it sunk in.
Kafka is right. You guys. Let it sink. Let's fuggin paint together!

I wasn't into this sample. But I love the song so much now! This cool beat (can be heard in the youtube example) wasn't noticeale in the sample. And the bridge has such a strange happy/sad emotion, it is amazing. Then the very end takes it next-level!

This wasn't one of the songs I was most excited for. First note, the ending. The last 30 seconds is the best part. A different mood than the rest of the song.
Also for those saying it doesn't develop past the sample, I feel that's an odd remark for this song since the samples leave out what are strongly imo the best parts of the song?
I do enjoy this song. It will continue to grow on me, I can already tell. Bring on the album.
