Listen to it the way it was released first, then try out the reversed edit. Most likely you'll prefer the edited album.

Overall it's a beautiful melancholic little record, which is even more true considering Avey and Kria's divorce.

Who Welles in My Hoff and Was Onaip are two stand outs for me

This is one of my favourite Animal Collective releases.

I remember there being a higher quality reversed edit floating around a while ago but I can't remember who had it. If anyone could hook me up I'd be forever grateful.

so so wonderful.

this was a release i totally skipped over until much later in the game. was so pleased to discover it (the reversed version). some of the prettiest sounds in the whole catalogue of aveyness.

Yes! and Sasong hits me pretty hard

and then i eat with my people, and laugh at the steeples
cause hell is my own bad thinking
i know that the rain moves, innards are dream pools
diamonds are days with fire

I have come across different versions of the reversed edit.

I prefer Palenka not so crazy fast, the melodies seem to flow better slowed down.

Overall I like the record. There are soo many standalone creations from this group and it's one of the major reasons I consider them highly talented.

I highly recommend anyone to listen to this if they enjoyed the album. It has some great songs on it that didn't get released, and offers some different perspectives on the ones that did get released. I wish the lyrics for foetus no man made it to the album. definitely the most diverse ac-related set of songs when it comes to mouth noises.Sis around the Sandmill, Opis Helpus, and Sasong are standouts for me.

Opis Helpus starts out as a really cutesy sweet love song, then the guitars fade in, and oh god that avey falsetto drifts in like a breeze through tall grass, and then it becomes one of the most astounding pieces of music ever.

I understand the reasons that they wanted to release it the way they did, but I wish somebody would officially release the unreversed version (even though that's never going to happen). I really love the unreversed version, it really reminds me of the slower songs on sung tongs like the softest voice and visiting friends. It feels strangely intimate, sort of like songs that avey wanted to record for sung tongs but felt self-conscious about recording them with Panda Bear, that's just how it makes me feel, I don't think that's actually true. I feel that way with a lot of Avey solo stuff though.

so after some listens, I think I prefer the version released. personally I prefer electronics to guitar, which is what the normal version sounds like. also it's unlike anything I've heard. still some great melodies and vocals while reversed. not much of a lyric guy either so don't really mind the stuff being jibberish backwards talk. great album.

I'll agree of all the things to release reversed, this was their best bet

it's been discussed before but the problem with reversing acoustic sounds is that they're reduced to such a distinctive envelope that's really exhausting to listen to for very long. the sound you have in your head of "backwards music" is pretty much how a lot of the album ends up sounding!
