I was just in Reno. Lost two dollars to the slots. Didn't get pulled over by the cops. Now in Texas. Will this be their country rock masterpiece??

+ (Revenge of) the Fly, perhaps.
I wouldn't be surprised if From a Beach (or Maya, as the kids are calling it nowadays) is also on the tracklist since they've played that at recent DJ sets. How weird it would be to have an eight-year-old song on the record...

I could see it happening. I don't think this album will be as different as people think, and I don't think it has to be.
I'm trying to find that shitty recording of "Sometimes" with what sounds like Noah on it but it seems to be gone. Sounded cool for what it was.

Hell yeah that would be sweet if "Sometimes" would be apart of this album , but I find it unlikely. Maybe as some sort of EP and play the song live during the tour.
I'm itching for the new album as bad as anyone else. I check this site everyday and look them up in Google news everyday waiting for the news.....but I so badly I wanna see them play songs they never recorded and early versions and follow them as they mature..To all the OG AC fans that have experienced that I envy you guys so much! I wanna be apart of that magic experience so bad! But I don't thing its going to happen. I feel like the album will definitely drop before the tour....and maybe I'll get lucky and they do perform a few new gems along with the new material.

also, woah what are sometimes origins? that dj version is nuts, could totally see the album being like that. how long do you think the guys had been working on writing material for the album before they went to the studio together? I'm super excited for some reason, have a really good vibe about their creative head spaces rn

Avey was performing that song during this brief solo tour a few years back. According to a fan who spoke to him after a show, it was either that song or "In Photographs" that the band had recorded for a Red Dead Redemption soundtrack (only to have the track rejected).

huh, wondered why there were 14 guests in here before. I'm really really excited about new stuff too. Just thinking about the moment I find out a new song has dropped makes me feel really weird. Like I dunno I may lose my shit. I've already planned to ask my super talkative roommate for a cone (if he's in the studio with me) and to either not say anything while it plays or just ask for some alone time for a bit. I'm sure he won't mind.

Yeah. "Sometimes" was the title I made up when we recorded Avey's show. It was definitely easy to miss the conversation on here about Dave posting the actual title on Instagram!

I wish they'd release the album with a deluxe version that had an extra LP of just cover songs...
This would be one I'd like to hear them do:

Would not be mad if the album was just 4-on-the-floor bangers
and also footwork beats

i would be pretty stoked abt an album of songs sorta with the maya vibe/beat.. imagining it to be at least a bit more fleshed out that that one, but ya that'd be sweet. maybe like a techo version of oddsac.. so itd be too creepy to be real club music

Vocal trade offs is a great clue.
So:
Only geologist, avey, panda
Recorded in LA at EastWest studios in Room 3 (where Pet Sounds was recorded)
Possible heavy synth maybe modular synth use from the drop of sun studios instagram
Fuck is that all we know? I really wonder if Panda has gone back to a full kit. Assuming if they play this material live, panda on a kit or not seems to heavily dictate the sound.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out more techno oriented like MPP was because of Deakin's absence. I'm guessing it'll sound more clear and commercial like it too, seeing as PBvtG headed in that direction. I doubt it will have Panda on drums because they'll all be trying to cover up for their missing Deak, and I imagine Avey will probably be on keys and sampler again to keep the project from sounding like Slasher House too. I also for some reason imagine this next album being more jazzy somehow. From the Slasher Flicks show I saw Avey seemed to really be into improvising in between songs, and just been seeing pay respect to R&B/jazz/blues musicians a lot, but have never really heard it come through much in their music.
Obviously all speculation.
