I'm still trying to get over the fact that the album has 35 songs.

Man there's a hidden 36th track. Only heard about it today. Almost impossible to access. You have to shut off your laptop, turn off all the lights and say Deakin's name into the mirror three times (it HAS to be an upstairs bathroom mirror). Turn the lights back on and when you return to your laptop you'll see that it's on and is prompting you for a password--the password is the name of the midwife who delivered you as a baby. This all has to be done during a full moon and, unfortunately, you have to be in the northern hemisphere.

Once the password is in you'll see that your hard drive has been completely wiped apart from the new album and the added track. It's like eight fucking terabytes. Supposedly Bull of Heaven were a big influence on this one. I'm hearing different people report different track lengths. Sick rumour going around that the track length is how much time you have left until you die. The guy who figured all this out posted that it was only five minutes long and he hasn't been heard from since. As for the song itself, most interesting description I've heard is that, sonically, it captures the 'feel' of the Woolly Mammoth going extinct.

You guys I am so confused. Are we just making up track-names? Is there anything aside from Live @ 9:30 that's been released? Any new tracks? Or are we all just being playfully hopeful?

Since they're a trio again, I wonder if the album will feature mostly electronic/sampled drums like MPP, or if maybe Peebz will keep some live drums in the setup too. also wonder how much Avey will play guitar, if at all

I preordered the deluxe album, but it might be too much work for me. I mean, you have to adopt an orphan, and when that orphan grows up they give birth to the album? Talk about elaborate packaging.

this is true. I guess I was thinking more about the live show since on MPP-era tours PB was mostly using samplers to play drums I think

although now that I think about it, there's acoustic drums on live versions of No More Running, and Avey liked to bang on the side of that one drum during Brosport and My Girls. they might've used live percussion/drums on other songs during those years too cuz I'm not familiar with many of the boots from that era and I'm probably forgetting some stuff

so actually I have no idea what to expect on this next tour, percussion-wise. a mix of live drumming and samples would be neat

I'm dying to hear this record. To meet to sonic palette for this era. To fall in love with the songs. To see how the boys pull it off live. I'm so happy this incoming. If I didn't have OG faces by Helen and the new Deerhunter recording dropping soon the wait would be much harder. The live record has me incredibly psyched.

yeah p sure all the drums except for the ones sampled from other songs are live drums heavily effected. they mentioned this is one interview like they do 24 takes of just a couple of tom hits and a few rim hits and layer them up n put them thru the sp303s n stuff. im sure they did this alot in chz recording as well, and specficially with the 303 cuz panda said in an interview one time its still their "secret weapon" in the studio on a chz interview

I am pretty sure if they did use live drums it was a floor tom and a crash cymbal for My Girls.

hmmm I remember Avey having a weird looking skinny drum not a floor tom

there we go. I think Panda has a floor tom too but that's not what Avey's using for the main boom-boom-OWWW part, at least at this point in the album cycle

Fucking hell those shows changed my life forever. Vic man, you've got to dig up the 07 stuff. It's pretty raw and incomplete but you get the sense that they're figuring it out night to night and just exploring these incredible spaces together.

well I've heard Melkweg, and also a handful of later boots like Liquid Room, Paradiso and Big Sur. Such an amazing live era for the band, I really gotta check out more

i'm also a big fan of the post-mpp tours where they made the songs so dreamy and amazing. 11 min Daily Routine is the best version of Daily Routine, and the re-worked Chocolate Girl shows how good these guys are at that. It's completely different, but it still feels like the same song, purely in its indescribable qualities. love u mpp and all ur children

Can't remember if it was pre or post mop but the version of Banshee Beat they were playing around that time was heartbreaking

MPP era was probably them at their most prolific. Seems like they were really riding a wave at the time. All those reworks and some of the most forward-thinking pop of the decade. After PP it was like they discovered a whole new way of making music and they just reaped the rewards like no other.

Not trying to diminish other similarly brilliant eras, or trying to say MPP is their best (or my favourite) album, but the energy of that period is undeniable. I'm hoping with the huge break in between LPs we'll see a similar sort of renaissance.

I love his style. AC never seems to put themselves on the cover of their albums though (with the exception of CHZ kinda) so it might just be for fun. I would love to see an album cover in the style of that Brian piece though. trippppaayyy
