avey looks like an update on the leaf eyed/mask guy that he was on.... um danse artwork? not sure where I saw it now, but its that thing that's reoccurred at least once maybe twice before where he has a leaf over each eye which is very super hero esque come to think of it, but more like forest child vibe

Yeah Avey's image is fricking old. He wore a little mask that looks a bit like that during their earliest shows. Yeah it is like a Forest Children superhero, haha. Forest Child to the rescue!

that is deeply exciting , the artwork for Avey actually referencing something from way back!!
it is possible for any new directions they have chosen to be completely beyond what anyone is thinking, while also being fully possible for them to do in concerts etc.

Yeah, was a great show. Wish they had a sideshow, but at least we got to see em and a DJ set, can't complain. Did you see them?
Yup. I'm in Adelaide and don't have a huge travel budget, so I take these opportunities whenever they come.
I remember some bright spark had the idea of putting AC on at the same time as Red Hot Chill Peppers, who I think were the main headliners that year. As a result RHCP kept bleeding into if not occasionally drowning out AC's set. There would've been like 50-100 people watching the AC set which seems pathetic for an outdoor show. But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing, as everyone there was there out of a love for the band. I ended up making a couple of friends and even meeting a future girlfriend out of it (we sung My Girls together, what a moment), so all in all it was a really good night. (Not enough pre-CHz material though!

The highlight of the show itself was Deakin's dancing during Monkey Riches. I guess one thing that makes me sad about the potential upcoming tour is that audiences will be deprived of that epic Deakin dancing.

I also caught the DJ set. Can't remember much about the set itself, I was just glad to be indoors drinking water after spending much of the afternoon outside in 30+ degree heat. I was also really glad to catch Death Grips, who actually showed up to play in person. Couldn't believe my luck.

I dunno. Sax, horns and dancers could be an interesting new direction for AC

That'd be surprising, considering how Avey Tare is said to hate the sound of brass.
Maybe it'll instead be blues-influenced?

Polka record. Weird Al mixing it. Fully instrumental tracks which they will uumlot a lot with when playing live. This explains the leiderhosen and the lack of a 'need to play non accordion instruments'. Dave is saving all his best raps and sick beats for the next Slasher album, and Noah is just sick and tired of yodeling. Deakin wasn't interesting in recording but still contributed more than Geo to the polka process. Everyone will praise and thank Geo for the sick old soundz, while Deakin eats caviar in his mansion.

Dang thats weak. I guess it doesn't surprise me, but that would give their music a real interesting twist and I could see them writing some creepy horn lines, haha.
I feel like the creative wave that Panda is riding will bleed over into their new stuff and it could be in a Merriweather/hip hop kinda vein. Avey's side of the 12' split he did with Geologist had a pretty cool sound, mix that with the Reaper stuff and there could be some pretty fresh stuff goin on

Yeah I know what you mean. There are a few directions I'd love but more than anything I want to be surprised. Centipede is awesome but they haven't taken a hard left turn since SJ. I can't imagine being disappointed unless it was less of a shift than CHz, but it would be magical to hear something strikingly new from them. For the record I love everything they've done since then but yeah, I would definitely like a big shake up.

he seems anti brass to me but the horn synths in the beginning of tape play cants seem like horn synths but more like majoras mask deku horn playing than brassy horns rlly

well this WILL probably be the longest gap between albums of their career thus far, so who knows? maybe we'll see more of a shift

Oh come on, "more like Centipede or Merriweather than any of their other albums"
Happy? And yes that is intentionally ambiguous.
Within the world of AC albums Centipede hardly sounds like Indian. Indian's songs are crazy freakouts compared to Centipede's. There's no weirdly long/frequent gaps of silence like in the opener and closer, none of the songs sound as creepy as Panic or Too Soon, etc

yeah, centipede and indian are worlds apart--sonically, lyrically, structurally. what do you mean sounds like? and would you argue that hz and, say, sung tongs are in the same ballpark musically?

Their gonna go cheesy synth pop like Tame Impala. I'm not sure if Avey has really emphasized his masculinity before and that NEEDS TO CHANGE
