i'd say the grim reaper is definitely in the current era, along with the next album

so just to clarify
dark era: TTG, ODDSAC, down there, possibly tomboy?
current era: greaper, CHz, slix
?¿?¿?

I'd definitely say you could put Tomboy in the dark era, but wouldn't CHZ be in it too?

there's no rules for trying to classify the band's music and obvs u guys can do this however u want but I don't think it necessarily makes sense to group Oddsac/TTG in with Centipede Hz -> onwards. Oddsac and TTG both came out in early 2010 so they were written and recorded previous to that, and of course the Glasslands boot traces back to 08. But the Centipede jams weren't written until early 2011, and weren't recorded until a year after that
but of course Panda Bear performed tomboy material as early as Dec 2008, but the album didn't come out until after C Hz songs were performed live, so everything kinda overlaps...more and more I find with AC that their music is kinda hard to fit into nice tidy eras

What I think is interesting about the ODDSAC, TTG era is that is has the least Panda influence out of their entire body of work. TTG is almost completely devoid of Panda(he contributed samples from tomoboy) and Noah admitted to not being as into the movie as the other dudes. Obviously Tomboy and Down There are swirling around that era as well but I think of those records as a pair almost and a separate thing from Oddsac and TTG.

yeah, I mean... I wouldn't ever count either Pullhair Rubeye or Person Pitch as part of the same thing as Water Curses and SJ. I meant that TTG and ODDSAC almost seem to have spawned from the same place (I guess in this case, a lot of working on ambient music with some songs and collaborating with Danny Perez)

Huh, didn't know this
Good point about TTG being some of the least Panda-heavy AC. It's a pretty striking contrast with Merriweather era

Yeah, apparently Noah said ODDSAC was 'fairly shit' and 'fully deserved its 16% rating on rotten tomatoes'.

The only thing Noah actually contributed creatively was the "SAC" part of the title
he got ghostwriters for Screens and Tantrum Barb

i also think the way music is released has changed since their first releases, i think they were always ahead of the curve in terms of relases, in the sense they were always so prolific...no EP this round about tho.... im really interested to see how this next one is released...especially after CHZ and their solo stuff

does anyone remember when Down There was announced for the first time, and we were talking about it on CA4 I guess, and someone posted "just step into my boat here"?
And it was like a day or two after the announcement. Like, no way it had freebirded or anything. That drives me crazy. Who was that person??

Was it just those words or the actual song/a sample of it? That's pretty cool. Classic illusive avey

I came in at some point in 2007 after seeing the MPP boots on YouTube, uploaded by a guy called Jangaboo, and just listening to House, Daily Routine and Brother Sport again and again and becoming truly obsessed to the point of proselytising.

I had been aware of CA for like 2 years before coming here often. For some reason I had this weird thing against posting on any forums, so i lurked on CA, E6 townhall, and /mu/ for like 4 years before actually joining here lol. I was never too into coming on here before this "iteration" though
