I sit on the solo stuff. Not so much the group stuff. This is most definitely
The best solo album he's done. The beats on some of these tracks are heavy with sonic excellence. I can definitely hear these tracks being played out at festivals this summer between artists. Totally puts Tomboy to shame and I may go as far to say CHz as well. Very likable album. Has that CHz aesthetic as well which I like

Maybe a little bit.
I'd probably give it a 9/10 rather than a 10 now. And I'm happy to say some of the songs are definitely a little weak, namely Principe Real, BBCM, and Acid Wash. I don't listen to it back-to-front much anymore, and rarely if ever play those songs.
Looking forward to the second wind though.

Listening over again, I guess I am only feeling critical of Boys Latin at the moment. When listening to this track I can't help but ask myself "what the hell is this nonsense" or "why do I like listening to this nonsensical bs?" Idk why, but the song gets on my nerves for some reason, I guess because I feel like PB did a lazy vocal job on that track.
And watching the music video... Just seems to me very experimentally cliche, the way it's just kids with digital animators' abstract tentacle vomit jumping out everywhere. It doesn't feel original and seems so corny. I think BBCM would've made a perfect music video track or one of the others but the choices for music video songs so far has been a bit weird choices in my opinion. Does anyone else feel this way about that song in particular. Gotta say this is the only one that jumps out at me like, "wtf is this??"

Yep BBCM's vocal melody is a little boring, but like most of these songs, the song really shines when you look deeper. Actually that one too always amazes me with his expansive it is. It sounds like everything is being swallowed into the background. That one was the big grower for me and now it's one of my favorites.
I'm still listening to this often. It's one of those albums like CHz that I can listen to all the time.
I think the second half is good but feels disjointed to me compared to the first half. Selfish Gene and Tropic of Cancer are 10/10 but the other tracks fail to follow up in as meaningful of a way. I wasn't including CTYS because I consider it part of the first half. Obviously it's in the middle though.
Just my two cents.

I agreed with you earlier Fonz but gonna have to disagree with all of that. Boys Latin and the video are two of my favorite things from this album...

while we're being negative I'm going to agree boys latin is the weakest track.
at the moment for me the most compelling are BBCM and Sequential Circuits. The rest I'm kinda just not vibing with for now, although Mr Noah is better than I remember
I personally fall in love with tomboy even more every time I come back to it.
IF I COULD ERR ON EVERY GOOD SIDE EVERY TIIIIIMMMEEEEEEE

This.
....& about tomboy, that album is sooo off the chart, can't believe the criticism. Listen again to to YCCOM or LNATJ, Preakness, some of the most soaring emotional electro pop of the decade. There's so much in that album, and like GR it takes time to see just what Noah was putting in and giving out

I think BBCM is great, but doesn't have the depth of any Tomboy late bloomers. Think it's lost a lot without the screams he does live too, they really made it pop

Personally I could never fully get into Tomboy :/
This one for me is an instant love, and BL might hopefully grow on me, I like the beat a lot.

Boys Latin was an instant favorite for me (even going back to the 2013 boots). Plus my one year old daughter immediately starts dancing when it comes on so that helps lol

I wonder if PB even read the book at all? Nadir indeed.
I think it's highly likely that he's read the book. He's obviously at least familiar with it. It's entirely possible that PB has read and likes the book, and even likes the passage you posted. But I don't think that should stop you from enjoying the music? The song doesn't seem to have any overt references to Dawkins or the book
But I can understand how having to associate a song you like with a book whose ideas you don't agree with can be annoying

at first i wouldve given this album a 9 or so, now im feeling more like a 7 ( tomboy = strong 6.5 or so, person pitch = 8 )
i just feel like the production on BBCM, boys latin, principe real & especially selfish gene dont vibe w me too well
live version of nadir had a cutting emotional edge and catharsis that i search for in the studio version but dont often find
wouldnt agree that this tops chz i dont think
still this album is a ton of fun and proof noah has still got it (especially when it comes to writing melodies)
i sound like im bitching (im not, still anco 4ever) rlly just wondering if anyone else has come down a bit off the new album high yet

Idk Boys Latin really feels weak to me, maybe because there's no bridge? It's just two parts that ramble on to me with no pull or dramatic passage. I really loved it on the ATP boot. My only complaint

For me, the back and forth vocal delivery gets me hyped every time (I LOOOOVE when AC does this stuff to on MPP). The lyrics are simple but effective. The bass synth is amazing. Just a great pop tune. I really enjoy simplicity. Especially with the way the world works now. It gives me a sense of calmness inside this chaotic mess humans have created.
I just love the damn song OK?!

I'm actually starting to get back into it after putting it down. It's a good album.
I'll admit, my hype went into the stratosphere after the ATP show, and after that it kinda just took hit after hit with each revision. The result is, in my opinion, a solid album. Probably a 7/10 imo.
But I'll be damned if that ATP show isn't worthy of its own 11/10.
ALSO, if Jabberwocky is released without the ORIGINAL Faces in the Crowd intact, it will be for null. I probably won't listen to it out of shock and anger and then subsequently slip into a coma.

Thanks for the title explanation. I used to think Tropic of Cancer and lonely wanderer made the album kinda depressing sounding but I realized they're actually beautiful songs. His singing in mr Noah is a bit weird but overall this album IMO is a genius psych pop album.

if we're getting into ratings, I reckon pp and tomboy are 8s and pbvsgr is a 7

I'm just being facetious but I do think it's kinda silly to rate music

That's exactly what I was thinking. Rating music is weird and rating with decimal is stupid,
"oh this is a 9.4 et this one is clearly a 9.7, c'mon, don't you see it ??" Pitch Headquarter
