Yo guys, have we talked about the tinymixtapes review? It's the best written one I've seen. I don't always agree with it (crosswords and principe are forgettable? whatt) but its the most calmly and intelligently written review i've seen thus far. Also, it's comforting to read a review written by one of us. Anyone know what his name is on here? (are you reading this)

He said it didn't fit into the album logically. I'm sure we'll get another EP

In interviews he's said that it was important for him to get the sequencing right on the album. There's a sort of narrative that runs through the album and PB said he had to pick out the right songs to get it to make sense. I'm not explaining it very well but if you go to the first post of this thread there's a bunch of interviews and they'll help shed some light.
It would be sweet if the album was just full of bangers but he was going for something else entirely

Morning Becomes Electric, KCRW, Santa Monica, CA, USA

5. Mr Noah
6. Faces in the Crowd
7. You Can Count On Me

The Faces in the Crowd --> You Can Count on Me transition is so, so great. It's quickly becoming one of my fav "live version" modifications he's done.

It's Freak. It was a good review (especially for TMT who typically has awful reviewers imo). Was bummed to see that it was the first non-positive review on metacritic tho (ya I kinda care so what)
I can understand someone giving it a 6/10 tho.
But a 4/10 though is absolute hogwash. Every time I watch a needledrop video I leave confused.

It's an alright review, just think he's wrong about some of the songs. Crosswords continues to blow me away on every listen. And I found this line very reductive, " mid-tempo, wonky pop jams riven with unabrasive noise."
also, dude makes a point that he's sorta over the album already, after listening to the freebird for two months. Which is kinda bullshit since the quality wasn't all there. dude should have tried to abstain at least a little bit if he was gonna write a review about it. Like I listened the freebird but I made sure to not over do it cause the real prize was still in my sights.
luv me some freak tho

For some reason since the release I've been stuck on the mr Noah ep... It's such a great group of bangers and Ioved it when it came out but i think I appreciate it even more with the album out. It has some of the best fast songs from the whole era right there

I was a bit bummed about that because I love that artwork, but i mean, if he drew it at a smaller size, what can you do
Well you wouldn't blow it up to force it to fit 12 in my 12 in. You make it smaller and put a border around it. white space.

I agree about Crosswords, and I think grouping Crosswords, BBCM and Principe Real together as forgettable songs is bullshit. I also agree about the freebird, I did the exact same thing (listening to it but not too much to make the hq version the real thing). I just think it was a refreshingly honest review, because I've read so many about this album now that I've just been like whaaaaaat to. So many reviewers analyze it in a weird way

the synth tone at the start of acid wash unfortunately reminds me of the taking the hobbits to isengard

This KCRW set is of such quality - it's like having slightly new mixes of the album tracks themselves.
Thank you for taking the time to rip and upload it.

Man this KCRW performance sounds GREAT! Love the swag on the vocals and that they were a bit easier to hear
I saw President Biden review today and was super confused and angry(?) ~ Yes, I am biased, but I think Anthony is gonna look back on that review and realized he done f'd up.
We've been hit by an avalanche of coolness the last few days.
I would love a panda bear shirt but I can't see myself being comfortable in something so colorful and attention-grabbing.

appreciate all the words, y'all, especially everyone who disagreed but dug the review anyway. felt vry self-conscious writing critically about an artist so close to me, and it's an album I see myself continuing to listen to
rly stoked for the rest of the material to surface

I'm about to sound 'picky', but is this the RTMP stream file?^

No, I downloaded it and did some quick comparisons and couldn't tell much of a difference. The RTMP stream was a pretty mediocre bitrate and I think someone said it was mono; I'm not sure if Frumpkin added a bit of stereo imaging or livened up the high end or what but overall they were pretty much the same and his was already split
. I can post the raw RTMP rip if you want
Like I said, radio sessions for this kind of performance don't have much of an advantage over concert bootlegs for me—the songs sound smaller than their studio versions and less interesting than their concert counterparts. It is good to hear yccom again though

omg. you can't count on me. that was a beautiful rendition. that final yelp he does. damn.
edit: for some reason i automatically typed "can't" instead of "can" which what the actual title is. subconsciously the song always had a very sombre and defeated tone to it. i immediately thought it was "can't"

I dug that. I liked this line: "The second track, “Mr Noah,” begins with the apparent sound of dogs as they’re jettisoned through a wormhole"

Also, I didn't know that Rusty Santos mixed Dysnomia. Kinda cool

i'm sorry to say this but I like Crosswords & Faces In the Crowd way more on this KCRW live performance than on the album, especially Faces in the Crowd, with the coming and going drums. but also that drop(sorry) in Crosswords YCCOM is also way better this way.they all have so much more space live.

Seconded. Faces in the Crowd has much more dynamic range and is way more intimate. It breathes. Even Sequential Circuits sounds more earthy. While I truly love this album, there seems to be a real aesthetic rift enlarging between myself and AC's outputs.
