I also really liked the show other than the feedback... I was hoping for some Person Pitch material because it was advertised as having 'classics from across his catalog'. Apparently 90 minutes, and classics from across his catalog means 60 minutes and some Tomboy songs + new Preakness.
Anyway, other than those complaints (feedback and false advertising) it was really good. Liked the way he did all of the new songs and the new take on the Apocalypse Now sample. Glad I got to see him live in Toronto and it's really cool that this was made available via streaming.
Totally agree. There were a couple subtle changes he did to the new songs that I really dug. I love how even after the record and songs are recorded, they're still never done. Like, the recorded versions are not the songs in their final form. Their final forms are however he decided to play the most recent version.

I don't think thats a new delay (referring to the guy who posted above). He's been using that to manipulate his voice on many live recordings I've heard. Was really cool to see the gear up close. I wonder what the master mix board is and what he is sending in and out of it.

What was your point about delay? I heard only one or two very subtle instances of delay in selfish gene and that was it. Delay also doens't have an effect on feedback. Reverb, however, does... but there was no reverb either. The vocal chain was essentially dry. Which is even more or a reason why there shouldn't have been feedback.
Maybe during his soundcheck he couldn't control the feedback with his normal reverb and effects chai, so he ditched it in an effort to squash the feedback. It's possible the feedback was even worse, and the show feedback was a huge improvement. I'd love to find out what happened, though it's unlikely we will.
meh, my point was it may have caused the feedback. don't want to get you all hot and bothered

lol. not hot, nor bothered. Yeah, if the delays are close enough to one another it can create a reverb-like effect, but that's more of a Dave setting. I didn't hear any instances of that. I don't think that was the problem.
I don't mean to come off confrontational or bothered, I'm just an engineer by trade and love discussing trouble shooting.

It was good but definitely the weakest noah set I've seen. I'm glad he played the Preakness since I never saw it live. I honestly think the biggest problem was just how the show was advertised. Every website that wrote about it hyped it up to be this super special performance and it was a normal set from this era song wise but shorter.

I wish there was a track list for the fireside chat. There were a couple of tunes I didn't immediately know the names of. I have some serious post-Spirit / pre-Sung Tongs blind spots.

yeah, even with SB giving a tease of the possibility of new material.
I wonder, I think a few of us watching online did, if it seemed like it was supposed to be more of a special outing but got curtailed by some technical issues?
The cameras were right on Noah and he did seem a bit crestfallen.. did you get that vibe?

maybe noticed that he seemed focused ^____^
this is a really challenging and dense set vocally and aurally (hearing all of your own songs back to back may be quite different from hearing someone else's music!), having not played it as recently as when touring, he would be very focused!

Yeah, hope somebody can rip a 720p or 1080p that'd be totally awesome.
TIP:
There's a program called 'Replay Media Catcher' it captures the original stream as you watch it, i believe that even if there's any lag, the final file is not gonna have it. You should try it, guys

got a great vibe at the show. the feedback was kind of annoying, but it was still a fantastic performance overall. the people i went with had never seen panda and though it was incredible.

also, when i dropped off my coat at coatcheck beforehand, the lady running it told me the coatcheck closed at 6 and to get my coat before then. i was like, but doesnt the show go until 6? and she said panda bear should be done before then. i know the coatcheck lady's comment isn't definitive or anything, but it made it seem like nothing got "cut" or shortened much. the museum closes at 6, afterall.

nothing really affected the songs or video projections : ) ... the feedback is very quiet in the mix, and although his vox are quiet at times, it made the songs more weird in certain ways that live mixes and the album which have his voice up front haven't done yet.
it may have been unintentional but worked very brilliantly with the material!
i don't think the songs are or aren't supposed to be "weird" but a unique atmosphere emerged not unlike the boys latin video where it was more like he was within the songs and they were huge while he was regular sized, instead of being the same size as the other instrumental components!

He didn't use the OP-1 on the album, I dont think. The vinly edition's liner notes include a list of instruments used by him and Pete to create the album. The octatracks are used live

Somethin' special to be found in those dry vocals, espesh when he goes hard. So raw when he goes hard. It did look like he was frustrated but I loved the second part of Mr. Noah when he's singing the other harmony part and he's just going for it!

Didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle.

moma was fun, pretty typical set! I don't think this was the 'new juice' (aside from the kickass drop in faces and that divine yelling at the end of selfish gene, I missed hearing those!) wish I could have stayed to talk but it looked like they were settin up for an interview and they kicked us cool kids out!
anyway I finally opened my greaper package and was floored by the details.. "something for the weakened" and "good morning" made me a lil bit fuzzy inside. little emotional there... I'm not sure what significance those things have to you pete or to noah but it will always remind me of this album hype and all the awesome riddles and surprises and jokes here. really special stuff.
"speak to the soul .... and others souls will speak to you"
that is the perfect way to sum up this album. everything about it feels directly from within noah and specific to him and yet somehow simultaneously translating into things felt by his listeners.. everything surrounding this release is so beautifully personal. what a great ride.. :') and it's not even over!

couldn't a said it any better myself. for real though im biased but i feel like this album, with its suites and how high it aims... and that it hits its mark (a high mark mind you) is at least a 9 with how large it is

I love the original Preakness but the thought of it being revived in its current form has me excited! If the harmonies are anywhere near that Cosplay snippet and on the same EP I'll be a happy listener
