Principe Real reminds me of El Guincho a lil bit....which i guess means it sounds like Panda + some disco/latin vibes ?

I haven't said this yet
I love this record.
But besides the music, the entire buildup to this and reading the interactions with Pete and the tips and tidbits sprinkled around over the past few months has really really been a joy to be apart of. This record has turned out to be everything I'd hoped for and more. Really excited for what is to come.
Thank you Noah and Pete you guys are the

Cool album, I like it much after two listens. Though I will wait now for a better quality version. It's like a video rip of CHz, same level of quality. And then there was this 'fantasy football' rip (original record) that sounded a lot better to me.
Sonic Boom, I am glad reading your latest post, you are the best!

love you sonic!
still not feeling crosswords, BBCM and CTYS, the latter only because I prefer the live version a million times, same with crosswords but never thought that would even come near CTYS.
TOC, Boys Latin, Lonely Wanderer, Nadir, Principe Real & Acid Wash are amaaaaaazing.

Not too sold on Crosswords but the last 30 seconds or so is so so good.
ToC and Lonely Wanderer are really beautiful and I'm glad he's doing stuff like that still
Last two tracks feel a bit redundant, the album feels done with principe

Great to hear Noah and SB are taking this in stride. It's a huge shame it freebirded but doesn't make the beats less bangin'. I also don't see how listening versus abstaining would come down to anything more than personal preference at this point...
Can't wait for what else is in store!
I will also concur that this is the best AC release since MPP.
Acid Wash closes this album so beyond perfectly.

the real tragedy here is that the hardcore fans dying to hear this have to sit through this awful quality freebird for 2 months. the quality sucks, and that is everyone's first impression of the album. what a shame.
domino should release the digital files now, especially considering they fucked up the release.

Man, I was just watching an anco show (this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_eQLCnA3to#t=3478) and it got me thinking. When you see noah in interviews he's so chill and cool it's almost like he's your buddy and you could get along straight away just fine. But watching that, seeing him show his chops, he's just on a whole other level. amazing musicianship and all that experience is a little intimidating, but wondrous too.
you could still totally be friends with him though
Sorry this is off-topic I don't know what I'm writing, man I gotta go to bed. but trust me, find What would I want?sky in that vid and check out noah's mad drumming and harmonising. co-ordination I'm jealous of

pretty sure the closest english pronunciation would be along the lines of
prin' see pay ray all'
IDK how to do or read all those fancy pronunciation letters so I used simple english phonemes lol. I'm confident on the principe part but the real might be pronounced differently in brazilian portuguese and that's all I was finding. it's more like hey-ow in that.

What is this purpose of the song title Boys Latin? How exactly does it relate to the song?

boys' latin is a school in baltimore. not sure if that's the reason for the name or not.

man, the vocoder that pans and phases around at the end of sequential circuits is so so haunting on headphones. on headphones this album was on another level, felt the most cohesive

Thanks for the pronunciation tipz.
So what are everyone's favorite moments? Impossible for me to choose favorite songs at this point, but these are my favorite moments in each song:
Sequential Circuits - "come on"
Mr. Noah - The howls
Davy Jones Locker - When the panda gets ripped up.
Crosswords - The vocoded voice. What the hell is he saying?
Butcher - Those delightful first few seconds
Boys Latin - The yell at 2:49
Come to Your Senses - The beat drop. loljk
Tropic of Cancer - The way he sings "on the other side" at the end with the whispersoft vocals.
Lonely Wanderer - The fact that it exists
Principe Real - The way those vocals sound.
Selfish Gene - "We'll trip up again"
Acid Wash - Acid Wash

Thank you for this, I was saying it completely wrong.
I listened to this album 3 times this weekend. After much deliberation, I've decided that I'm going to wait to listen to this album again until January. It's not because I don't like it, quite the contrary. But I had been building this release up for so long, going on nearly 9 months now. It just feels wrong to me to start binge-listening to it now.
Don't worry, I saw PK's post. I'm totally okay with people who already want to listen, especially since PK gave his official sanction. I don't consider myself above pirating music or downloading copyrighted material, morality-wise, so it's not about that. It's not even about the audio quality of the freebird, which to my untrained ears sounded just fine. I just simply think I'll enjoy listening to this album more if I wait until January and do things the proper way. I want to get the whole experience. I may have already ruined that experience by listening to the freebird, but oh well. I've got plenty of other music to keep me occupied through the end of the year: Ariel Pink, Dirty Beaches, Aphex Twin, FlyLo, Arca, Grouper, the list goes on. I'm going to worry about these albums in 2014 and leave PBvsGR for 2015.
So to everyone who's already listening, don't worry about us who aren't listening and enjoy the album.

someone mentioned this album having video game references and i totally get that too.
on headphones last night i closed my eyes and listened to the record and it felt so visual, some of these noisey sounds on the record feel like they are actually telling this little story. this album is so good..the vocoder pulses are so chilling

I find it funny people are complaining about crosswords, or any song for that matter - the song itself is about him not giving a shit about what people expect of his music. I realize everyone is entitled to an opinion, but would it not be more productive and conducive to your expectations to make music that you enjoy and that encapsulates these ideals that you're holding up to a song that's ALREADY been recorded? Just my 2 cents. The guys just doing his thing, and I know we've all lauded him as a genius musician over the years, but to expect something very particular out of him, like 'drops' and certain dynamics is just silly - I think if he saw fit to put them in, he would. He's still a human being, and this is his what? FIFTH album? Look at a guy like Brian Eno... he's made so so so much music over his career, and I'm sure by his estimation he's put a ton of work into every single one, maybe some didn't resonate with the populous as much as others - but it's still his expression. What's to say PB wont put out way more in the future? If you're unhappy with it - maybe you'll like the next one, or the next three, or five. Its about artistic progression and I think PB hit the proverbial nail on the head. Without using a bunch of samples, and using much much more esoteric gear (opposed to Roland SP's and the Korg M3) it's bound to be much more of a challenge - a much larger sea of sound to brave. So, in that respect I think he killed it - the guy can put on an incredibly expressive show and is supremely talented and I think we're all incredibly lucky that he feels the need to push himself continually over the years. I don't think 'perfect' exists in any sense of reality - but in the moment in the studio where he said 'it's done', he saw it as perfect and complete as it could be. We have to respect that decision - it won't change and it's done. I don't think some internet commenter will make him think that the vocals on a certain track had too much reverb. I mean, shit, what other song have you picked apart like that? thats crazy to me. We've definitely become acclimated to the boots and the live shows we've all seen - but we've got to be thankful those exist still - so if you prefer them, listen to them. That simple. This guy put his heart and soul into his music and pushed himself further and hopefully will continue to do so for a long time, so on a macro level, all things considered, this album kicks some serious ass.
Also, first time poster but it's been wild decoding all of Sonic's cryptic posts and getting all giddy about the build up. Saw him in boston and it was a transcendental show - just a guy twisting knobs but it was way more than that. Thanks Sonic for giving us a look into the minds of some of our generations best, I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of it, albeit a voyeur.
Good Vibes to all
