i speculated in another thread that this might be the full animal collective red dead redemption version of the song
edit: lyrics are different, also sounds like there are panda harmonies

It's definitely a full band version. I've never heard this one before. I was thinking for a second that maybe it was the first output from their recent meetup (if that was an actual thing) but it sounds like MPP/SJ/DT era stuff so probably not.
edit: oh and I wouldn't mind if it was on the next album, it sounds crazy as it is

that "oohoohoo" that Panda does is perfect in basically every way as are the rhythms. It's so perfectly layered... holy crap

exciting, would be psyched for an AC release w/ all those 2011 jams on it... prob my fave stuff avey(/maybe any1 in AC??) has done post-fbk...
roark: this song was originally played by avey on his 2011 tour along with 4 other amazing unreleased songs, definitely worth checking out!! get the two sails knitting factory boot
also agreed michael, i like that set of songs better than down there, and i LOVE down there!

Sounds very similar to what he played in Chicago on the solo show bootleg dyland recorded. Maybe avey is going to do another solo EP release afterall? Doesn't really seem like he did that recording with AnCo considering they only just recently met up to work on new stuff right? Plus if that was a new version of the song with the band, wouldn't they have changed it around a bit more kinda like when panda brought song for ariel to the band and it turned into guys eyes?
yeah if it is an Animal Collective version it would have been recorded during the original CHz sessions, not during their recent meetup. i'm speculating that because after one of his 2011 shows someone talked to him and asked him about the new tracks, and in regards to either sometimes or in photographs avey said 'yeah we did a full band version of that track and submitted it for the red dead redemption sequel's soundtrack but it got rejected' or something along those lines, so i thought that maybe this is that full band recording he was talking about.
i think it sounds quite different from the version he played on the 2011 tour for what it's worth

Wow, this is an interesting re-interpretation.
As for the "full-band theory", I would like to hear a better quality version before judging but I think that I can hear Noah @ the 2:06 mark.
He spoke to a fan during his 2011 solo tour and said that the band recorded one of his tour's song for a "Red Dead Redemption sequel" but that it got rejected. The song would either be "Sometimes" or "In Photographs" and there's a little debate over which one it is.

Is it just my phone? Cuz I don't think I'd even be able to tell what song that was if it didn't say. It's so over modulated/distorted. How can you tell that the lyrics are changed or that there are panda harmonies? It's all just blown out bass

There's absolutely Noah in there
^ yeah wow in addition to harmonies, in the second half of the song it sounds like panda has his own separate melody in parts

i hear noah. But i don't hear a "full band". Doesn't sound like much Geo or Deaks influence at all. and very very little Panda. I would love to hear a better recording of this!

I did used to think. when the song titles for Centipede hz were presented, that Moonjock would be this song; i'm glad it was its own song! The energy and ideas from this one do appear in many different ways throughout some of the songs. yet it could even be a demo from around the same time as the From a beach demo?

sounds like noah at the end but they can kinda sound the same when signing bits like that?

This song has more to it than say Crimson and that was def full band. Even Street Flash feels kind of bare bones. Nothing new for the band, you guys are crazy if you don't hear Noah

This sounds great. So what are the other songs from this era? I tried lyricalcollective, but it's down.

Song For Jerome is as good as anything off Down Boy and Slasher House. I fucking love that song. You need the Knitting Factory boot from 2011.

Metro Gallery, though short is a far better boot! Jerome kicks.

yeah I am totally grateful that this recording exists and I can hear the song somewhat well, but overall I don't know why people are assuming its the full band or how they can even hear noah.

My ears usually have trouble discerning sounds in these kinds of recordings (people who get lyrics off of live boots are magicians to me), but I can hear the melodies (including what sounds like Noah) really well on this one.

Yeah, I've got a hard time figuring out anything more than a basic concept of the song from the recording. What I can hear sounds pretty cool though, I guess

I dunno man on loud it doesn't sound like avey backing himself up after 2:00, I could see it being panda or angel. And I doubt this was made by all 4 guys, more would be happening. even thru the shit i can hear it's almost simpler in places than the first versions we heard. He added in some really cool piano sounds tho!! Agh it's def enough to rock out to, esp if u fill in the gaps mentally from the old boots... I remember transcribing the old lyrics, I'll have to redo it!
my 20 yr ears are naive and excitable

Usually I can figure out odd time signatures but this one is really throwing me for a loop, damn
i guess i'm assuming full band just because i'm positive you can hear noah, but it could just be avey and noah (or avey and angel, that's a good point chocoboy)

0:48 and 0:58 "ooh ooh ooh" is panda no doubt
again at 1:55 and after the 2:00 mark you can hear plenty of noah's vocals throughout
