i think faces in the crowd works best because it does a totally charming job of convincing us that the song should be done with just drums and vox with sparse bass and the organ's a really nice touch. the end is even a little jarring because it pulls you out of that world (feels too digital and isolated from the garage we were in at the start, even if that was a fiction in the first place).
it's harder to do that with yr PR because you're basically playing the original arrangement on real instruments instead of with electronics. harder to win me over i think. the deakin is nice but belongs in http://collectedanimals.org/viewtopic.php?t=132
cool thanks for the feedback! lots of food for thought. makes me wanna go back and change the ending of ol' faces so it stays consistent with that vibe, that's a really good point. but idk maybe it's cool that it is jarring/clashing though? and i didn't realize people could access PR via the soundcloud account lol whoops. really appreciate the feedback.
We could just compile everything in the same order as the album, but there are a couple of problems:
-We don't know what these tracks are: Davy Jones' Locker, Shadow of the Colossus, Lonely Wanderer, and Acid Wash.
-If we put Frumpkin's Sequential Circuits first then all the rest of our covers will pale in comparison but really...
But if we just put all the songs together, I think it'll be a bit too long to digest all at once
We have the lyrics to Acid Wash and the chords to Lonely Wanderer (or vice versa), right? Would anyone be up for just doing a blind cover for each song using what Sonic has given us on photobucket? I think that could be really cool.
I recorded a lounge version of BBCM Instrumental is done, just gotta add vocals, then I'll post it here. It's just for fun, we don't have to put it on the album since someone else was already recording a cover of it before me
I probably said it before but I think everyone should just post whatever they make once it is finished(don't want people to rush) so we can get all the tracks together before the album releases or freebirds.
Thanks guys! All due credit to PB for writing a great song.
It's kinda cool how the BBCM chords and melody very easily lend themselves to a jazz/lounge style. I added in a few chords here and there but otherwise it's all just following the original
had some time to work on crosswords during my shift tonight and made some pretty substantial changes, didn't bring my mic so recording new non-laptop vocals is a no-go but thankfully i can get this done for y'all this week, here's another preview!
ready to finish principe but lyrical collective is saying the subscription is expired? tried to make an account but still can't view the lyrics. What is sonic's photobucket account? The lyrics are there too right?
Here's my (work in progress) instrumental track for Boys Latin. Just some adjusting of effects, volume and adding vocals left to go. Should be done around the middle of this week.
I saw Panda Bear perform this song live in Toronto and at the time it was by far my favourite. Loved working on it thus far.
it's good to hear that the 3 covers we're waiting on (boys latin, garage, principe real) are all actively being worked on, really excited to hear these!! sounds like we'll be ready to roll in like a week or so
