The fact that I can't tell if he's laughing or crying is pretty unsettling
I love how off-key his singing is on that, it's like a little kid trying to sing a nursery rhyme song after his pet's just died

There are live performances of all 3 other songs on the EP, though.
Random thought: Bluish has a kind of similar beat to Peking O, when the drum machine first comes in

they did seal eyeing / sea lion on the proto-mpp/pp 2005 bbc session, yeah. "what i do" remains the best unreleased ac track

"What I Do" never did much for me, it's just kind of one groove that repeats for ages. Obviously Person Pitch is full of songs like that but there's a lot more variation in the vocal melodies and samples and stuff.

Yeah I'd echo what Hash says about What I Do. It's like an early experiment in Person Pitch-like use of samples.
That whole radio session is essential Animal Collective, tho, in my opinion. That reworking of Good Loving Outside is magical

what do you think the best unreleased animal collective track is hashman. hint: it's not from a beach

probably From a Beach
hmm what else is there
unless Crack Box live recordings count as a "release" then Covered in Frogs is better than What I Do too. And Ice Cream Factory. And Do the Nurse.
I can't remember if I've heard Sponge Luke but that seems popular enough for me to think I might enjoy it more than What I Do.

Don't forget always you.
Also from a beach has so much more going on compared to what I do imo. Avey's vox are pretty cool on what I do though.

crap, I am really behind. where was that news from and is the fact that they bothered to change the title an indication that they're going to record it?!
but yeah "Dementia" as I like to call it is fricking great, I forgot about that one. From a Beach is at least its equal to me though.

Maya is how it is listed on the DJ setlist and someone talked to Avey to confirm it (Sam I think?)

Wait a second, this entire time From a Beach is actually called Maya? Are they reworking it or something? I'm confused.

I think it was definitely called From a Beach by them back in 2007 since I don't know how else we could have got that name*. I guess they just changed it? Like Jimmy Raven / The Living Toys
*Okay I guess Stop Thinking and the other fake Centipede Hz song titles are counterexamples to that point

They did a radio session of it along with On a Highway. It was initially titled "Maya" then they made the correction to call it From a Beach. Which is weird they're calling it Maya again

Someone made up a bunch of names that had nothing to do with the songs or their lyrics and a lot of people on CA used those names for a long time for some reason
all I can remember is that Today's Supernatural was "Stop Thinking"

We didn't let "Stop Thinking" last all that long...quickly became Let Go. The others that weren't mentioned were I'd Rather, Change, A Long Time Ago, Knock You Down, Take This Weight, Your Choice and Mercury. So only two (Little Kid and Frights) didn't reference the exact lyrics.

I know right?? Like there are good mashups and bad mashups, and then there are mashups like this where you'd swear the two songs were designed to be put together
Oh and I JUST remembered my favorite AnCo track that I always forget! WINTER WONDERLAND

(sorry if this has already circulated CA. I hadn't seen it yet)
?! fucking god tier. a serendipitous marvel that these two songs fall together so naturally (and hilariously at that.) this is actually crazy.
2:39 woooow I just got the biggest smile on my face ever from that change-up. unreal.

My dream is for AC to play that in a DJ set. I'm sure the guy who made it feels the same way

Haha, glad you finally added it in, but I just find it hilarious that you just left out Banshee Beat at first. Honestly if I heard it that way at first I probably still would have liked it, after all, all the other songs are good. But Banshee Beat is....Banshee Beat.

ok, I figured out what I don't like about the recent live shows. That weird vocal effect that they keep using that's all vibrato-y (flanger?) makes their voices sound flat at times to me and it clashes with everything else. they sound fine when they don't have the effect. does anyone else feel this way or am I the only one? is that on purpose maybe?
