It seems like a lot of other musicians have been able to make vibes similar to those on Feels, MPP, Strawberry Jam, etc. but I haven't found any other albums that sound much like Here Comes the Indian. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here are some of the closest I can think of (but not really that close) to get a sense of what I'm looking for, in terms of noisy/abstract/loose compositions and bizarre trippiness:

Black Dice - Creature Comforts
Bee Mask - When We Were Eating Unripe Pears
Excepter - KA
Gang Gang Dance - God's Money
Liars - Drum's Not Dead
Storm & Stress - Under Thunder & Fluorescent Lights
Treasure Hunt - Clutty Putty

thats why this has grown to be probably my favorite AC record. I can't think of any albums that sound quite like it.

when i read the first post sun city girls popped in my head, but I don't think id go as far to say they 'sound the same'

Boredoms kinda? i feel like there are definitely elements of that style in AC's early stuff; Ahh Good Country (tho its on danse) could fit on Super Ae i think. and Too Soon definitely feels similar ecstatic and celebratory as later Boredoms

I feel that. Been ages since I listened to Super ae but all the crazy different parts of Hey Light sort of maybe remind me of it?

Holy... SHIT! I never noticed until now, but yeah. Very sim.

Sometimes the noisy, furious instrumenting reminds me of Lightening Bolt.

Honestly, this album really stands out in terms of an original sound.

Scott Walker's later albums.

Those are honestly a bit scarier though.

I also second Tago Mago, it often has a different vibe but something like Peking O recalls the sound of HCTI (imo).

Edit: one more thing - definitely check out Hollindagain, it gets a bad rap i think because the quality is somewhat poor but it's very enjoyable and was created around the same time. Pride and Fight is the shit.

Awesome suggestions guys! So much amazing music coming out of this thread.

I love Tago Mago and Hollindagain, would've put them in my initial list but I figured just a couple were enough to get things going. The This Heat, Raccoo-oo-oon and Sun City Girls suggestions are spot-on and I'm still digesting some of the others.

Also wanted to add Twi the Humble Feather to this list, though they sound a bit more like Campfire Songs/Sung Tongs than HCTI. But, close enough.

Keep 'em coming!

Holy crap that Cromagnon album sounds just like HCTI, they even use the same duck-sounding vocal processing that AC use in Too Soon and Whaddit I Done! That one definitely comes the closest of all the other albums mentioned here.

Following related music from this thread led me to discover The Residents (for which I'm eternally grateful) and I would say Eskimo is pretty similar in concept and spirit.

I honestly think This Heats first album was a HUGE influence on AC in their early days! Some of the tracks on that album are almost uncanny! very danse era. Have a listen to this track, at around 03:00 it sounds so much like the beginning of the pitchfork set they did in 2011. All those clicking sounds! also sounds abit like the softest voice. :o

I was on RYM the other day, and I went to a chart of the highest-rated noise rock + psychedelic rock albums of all-time, then jumped to #600 or so. I like finding albums that way. That's how I found volcano! - Beautiful Seizure, and I listened to it yesterday. It's so cool to see it here!

Also, Black Dice - Beaches & Canyons and Black Eyes - Cough are similar to HCTI.
