Oh man. Now I really hope I can snag a copy of one of those cassettes! Maybe the Keep shoe special gift will be the cassette? If not I guess Ebay/discogs will be my only option for a physical!

I know we haven't heard much deaksolo work but im really eager to hear this shizz whenever it comes (not get too hypey yet, can't handle it after Pdubs) because I feel like since this is deekz first ablum, he's gonna do something very unique/unexpected. Deak voice is gold, btw. Campfire songz obv, but also wide-eyed (ESPECIALLY the acoustic version, his voice is so perfect.)

So I am very very psyched this is finally happening. Curious to note he refers to it as an EP...but also refers to it as an album. And from the previous update, he calls it a record. Makes me wonder how much material we'll actually be getting. But I suppose that's besides the point - whatever it is, he's happy with it, and we're finally getting it!

Can't believe it's been six years since I pledged $$ to that Kickstarter.

Not sure how many tracks will be on the cassette but i'm curious as to what these "bonus downloads" might consist of. Also very curious as to what surprise might be coming with those Keep shoes, sounds like Josh is pretty adamant about keeping physical copies of this release to the original Kickstarter backers.

I interpreted it as the Kickstarter cassette being an exclusive EP with an LP on its way to the public afterwards. Could be wrong though.

As soon as I read the part of the email where he said he was making it a cassette instead of a CD I got so mad I had to take a long break from reading lol

I'm glad he's keen to make more music straight away. Looking forward to hearing this next month I guess. Didn't he have a DVD in the works at some point though? Oh well.

Maybe he'll include some videos as "bonus downloads" instead?

I don't feel too bad posting this here since I paid for a CD not a cassette... if anyone wants to buy my copy of the cassette off me let me know. I got nothing to play that on and not interested in collecting cassettes.

I just feel bad I don't have the keep cassette now. Cassettes HAVE become very popular lately but it's sorta a bummer he's changing this so last minute. I was ready for that cd too man.

But don't sell it Hash. You know he's including a download code with it too right? Having the artwork and (maybe) lyrics would have to make up for that no? Or are you just gonna burn a CD from it
I dunno

the cassette move does seem kinda random. i dont own a single thing that that has cd playback (Well i guess my ps2 now that i think abt it lol) but my car actually is old enough to have a cassette player... if it weren't for that id be slightly ticked abt the cassette thing. cassettes are kinda sweet in a way that cds arent but if u dont have a player, which why would anyone nowadays rlly, its kinda lame. idk im still kinda abt cassettes tho even tho they make 10x less sense than a vinyl record or any other format..

still wish i had keep cassette... and this...

you can buy a cassette player at any thrift store for ten bucks. plus if you are getting the digital downloads, a cassette is a more unique medium as an alternative imo.

Yeah I know it comes with the download code, that's the main thing I want from it rather than a tape at this point. So yeah it's a little awkward, I live in New Zealand which would make shipping more of an issue if I had it sent straight to me... but even though getting it sent straight to another Collected Animal would be better in some ways I want that sweet download. I guess I could just ask them to send me the link to all the digital stuff as soon as it arrives but if it's a one-download only thing they'd have to be fine with just having the tape I guess??

Honestly yeah I agree with this in general, just not my thing personally. I was mad for a minute but I don't blame Deakin and I love him and hope his EP sells like hotcakes when he puts it up for a general release.

I want CA to get together and make a video message or something about how much we love and support Josh and that we're so proud of him.

Yeah, cassettes are definitely popular right now so it's not a huge surprise and I personally am psyched. I do understand the frustration for those who have waited so long and can't actually play the physical product they ordered though...

Hopefully we see a release on vinyl in the not so distant future for whatever Josh has planned next (doesn't seem so impossible considering Paw Tracks hyped a Deakin album at one point). It definitely wouldn't have helped with this project though given the current backlog at pressing plants haha.

The EP will not be sold to anyone other than you in any physical format. You guys waited a very long time for this and I want you to have something unique for your patient support. I will be making the tracks and album available online though through iTunes

so, an album and an EP? or is he just using the terms interchangeably?
is this to say that there is an album plus an EP that only donors will receive, or that there is just one body of work and the donors are the only ones who will receive a physical copy?

regardless, I'M EXCITED

Lol we're not gonna receive an album and an EP. I think donors are just getting an EP-length release on cassette and digital download, that he is also referring to as an album in the broad sense of "a collection of songs". Like in iTunes you can sort either by songs or by albums for example.

No Deakin protest marches please. And I am so damn serious about that CA video message.

Also LOL yeah my av creeps me out too. I actually tried to make it look as much like me as possible, so I was pretty psyched that there was an option to make the nose a bit crooked. But then I gave him a creepy grin and it looks a little awful.

Hell yea cassettes are the shit <3 They're so cool lookin, and I love how they're thick and the titles are easy to see when they're stacked together. You gotta kinda squint with CDs and vinyls you gotta flip through one by one. I got my player at a thrift store for 4 bucks. If you have an FM transmitter you can listen to em in your car.

so once we get this track i guess someone will have to make a pw + deakin lp (speak memory?) tracklist. i mean, in a way, PW is like a really sick panda ep and avey ep combined, so we'll have like 7 panda tracks, 7 avey tracks (with gnip/hounds single) and then all these deakin tracks ... and if u mix em u could get a crazy double lp that reunites all 4 anco bros!
